Location: Madison, Wis | Anyone who may own an Ovation 2007BCS Collector's Edition Acoustic-Electric Guitar, could you possibly give a report card concerning this guitar. I am purchasing my first guitar in 30 yrs (my first was a Balladeer that I have had since 1996. I saw this guitar on line and really like the looks. I am debating between this and a 6778 LX. Any insight that can be given would be most helpful. |

Location: Utah | Wis, that 2007BCS was the guitar I really wanted, but could not afford at the time. So I got the 6778LX-VN which has a very similar look. The big differences would be the bowl and the preamp. The contour bowl definitely has a louder, fuller, richer sound. But the feel is different than the traditional round back. You should find one to play if you can, to see if you like or hate the feel. Skinny people tend to not like the contour so much. Average to larger seem to like it. The preamp is the VIP, which is better than the OpPro in the 6778 because it has some mic emulations.
Minor differences are the top wood, which is premium bearclaw on the 2007BCS, and regular A grade spruce on the 6778lx. Ebony fretboard and bridge on the BCS vs rosewood on the 6778LX.
I don't think you'd be disappointed in either guitar. The question is whether the upgrades on the 2007BCS are worth a couple hundred dollars more. I think in general the answer is yes, to get the deep contour bowl and the VIP. |
