I'm looking for an Optima preamp, battery box and XLR to replace in my Adamas W591. The former owner had pulled all the electronics out for some reason. I know that I can get from Ovation, but was hoping that someone had a good used one out there.

Crazy things people do. I ordered one of these from Ovation four years ago for a replacement. It was almost $300 then. Good luck finding one.

Scott, was that the price including installation? or just for the electronics?

Since I only paid $300 for this nice W591 and case in great shape it should be worth going to the factory if need be. It would be about $300 for the electronics.

What's to install? If the holes are already there it's just a matter of filling them with the right sized parts.

Yessir, that was me who bought it. Actually, I had posted a "Want It Now" on ebay a few weeks ago. Yesterday the seller emailed me and sent me pics. We agreed that he would post it at a certain time as a "Buy It Now" and I snagged it. I think $125 for the whole ball of wax is real good. The seller says its new, but where it came from I don't know. I think he is the same seller who posted a couple of new VIPs on eBay a couple of weeks ago. I really thought I would need to drop three bills or more at the factory. Cool.

That seller has sold of few preamps and sets of tuners in the past.

I'm always curious as to how they come up with these things.

You don't wanna know. In short, he knows a guy who knows a guy, who owes another guy a favor, but doesn't want the wife to see the pictures of him and his girlfriend, with one of his guitars... So the other guitar gets sacrificed, the old "horse head shaped guitar in the bed" routine, etc, etc..

Wow! is that confusing or what? I thought someone was changing out preamps and had leftovers. I don't see how anyone would want to do that, but people are strange sometimes. (Someone should write a song about that)

Looks like a great deal though. I hope that one comes up again in the near future, because I want to change out the OP24 on my 1581 to the Optima.

B - I'd post a "Want It Now" on eBay. I don't think that I would have found this one if I hadn't done that. Obviously, the guy searches them.

Need a little help..
I have a 1869 custom legend from around 1998. The Optima pre-amp is cutting in and out because the contacts are dirty and need cleaning.

DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO REMOVE THE DARN THING?

I looked for screws, release tabs, etc.

Thanks

Serge,
the label "peels" off exposing 4 screws. Try not to bend it too much and you should be able to put it back on when your done. You have to remove the knobs and slider ends first.
