For Sale: ADAMAS I MODEL 1687-8S

ALLAN HOLDSWORTH CUSTOM SUPERSHALLOW BOWL ADAMAS

One of only two made. Custom non-cutaway supershallow bowl Adamas I. Identical to a standard 1687-8 Adamas I except for the custom bowl. More details are found on my WEBSITE . Guitar was built in 1984.

Setup is perfect, sound is wonderful and it's got all the mojo of a regular Adamas I. Plus the rarity and mystic of being a true one-off (actually two-off) personal instrument of Allan Holdsworth. In addition to being a fine acoustic instrument this would be a GREAT gigging guitar for those who don't want to drag the big boomer on stage or just prefer the onstage comfort of the supershallow bowl.

Guitar is in absolute MINT condition. I had the factory go over it and tweak everything last summer, so you KNOW it's perfect. Comes with hardshell case.

$3000. + S/H

Email or PM me if interested.

I played this guitar in a Guitar Center several years ago when it looked old, and had action about an inch off the 12th fret, then again after Dave got it back from the factory. Hard to believe it was the same guitar. Set up was perfect, fretboard looked almost brand new.

It's a great guitar. Hope it stays in the OFC. Worth every penny that Dave is asking......

Wouldn't you know, there's the Adamas of my dreams--and the house still needs that new roof.
It's absolutely lovely, Tuppy, and I wish I could give it a home. (My only comfort is that maybe it has the "V" neck...at least, I sure hope so; that possibility will make it easier to wave good-bye to.......)

Cliff is right that would make one hell of a gig guitar.
I'll bet this sounds every bity as food as a deep bowl when plugged in, not the same but just as good. You get that nice streamline tight to the body fit when on stage as well.

I am a deep bowl guy but someone has the chance to own a great guitar here.

Plugged in sounds exactly the same as any deep adamas. Unplugged it's a little thinner sounding than a deep bowl adamas, actually it's about like a DEEP bowl non-adamas (Elite, Legend, etc.) but more vibrant. If I was a gigger this would never be on the block but it's one that just sits there screaming for love that I can't give it. It wouldn't kill me to not sell it, but I know there's members who would make better use of it than I.

Way to go, Tupp. I think if anybody ever offered up something like this with a cutaway, I might want to juggle the books and make it happen.

Actually, one of the very unique things about this is that it does NOT have a cutaway. Quick - name another non-cutaway supershallow bowl ???

I can think of the Model 6 Folk Classic, and maybe a few protos and one-offs but that's it. No production guitar every got a non-cut SS.

I have a wood-topped proto like that I picked up from Fugot, but as you point out, it was not a production model.
