On the other hand, I can see why Mauvais Beal and Kim Keller speak so highly of this one now that I've played one. It's the best sounding shallow bowl I've heard! And this 84C is in great shape for 24 Years old. I apologize for some of the odd angles in the pictures; I had a narrow window of opportunity to get them while the sun was out, and that limited time-frame necessitated that a 20 pound, 7 month old, constantly wiggling and giggling bowling ball named Thomas be strapped to my chest via a Baby Bjorn while I gamely tried to play amateur photographer. Anyway, this one is in marvelous shape with only minor wear after all this time. The sound is lovely both acoustically and plugged in. The finish has two decent scratches, one in the lower bout that is less than an inch and may be a finish crack though I've never seen one this small before, and another scratch behind the strings which made it impossible to photograph. The strangest thing can be seen in the close-up of the bridge. It looks to all the world like something was mounted through the top at one time via two very small holes that have been professionally filled/plugged. They are about 1/16" in diameter and nearly impossible to see from more than 3 feet away. They really show in that picture because I over-exposed them with the flash. It comes with a HSC that has definitely lived through better days but has perfectly sound hinges and latches which close it tightly. And one strap pin could use tightening. That's it for the flaws. The rest is all good. The finish has not yellowed like some other 84's, so the color is that beautiful nutmeg (not olive green like some can get). The neck is straight with (get this) almost no fret wear. The epaulettes actually include some well-figured birds-eye maple. And it plays just fine from headstock to body. This one is in WAY better shape than the other one on eBay right now. Speaking of which, this one will go up there soon, but I wanted to give the OFC first crack. I'm asking $750 shipped in the continental U. S. International members definitely want to check about shipping costs first. Let me know what you think folks. I'm very motivated to move this one. ![]()

I think I might use your stain idea on my Custom Balladeer 12 as well. Is there a brand that Ovation uses? I have to say again, this guitar is in great shape! Whoever gets it won't be disappointed.

My 1984 Collector\'s Auction In the interests of cutting OFC members some slack, not to mention saving myself a seller's fee, I'll ship it to any OFCer for $699. Anybody? Anybody at all? :)

I will be bringing back a 6778LX which now will have to go as checked baggage as the 84 will be going on (hopefully) as hand luggage. Now I must update my tag line, this O fever is seriously strong stuff...
