Well to make a long story short, I saved up and bought a 1116-4 classical w/ case when I was 15, awestruck by its beauty. FFW 30 yrs, and I'm moving. Busy day. I put the case down next to the guitar on its peg as I'm called away for something else, and hours later, the place is empty and everything is in the truck.

On delivery, the case has disappeared, but I find the guitar packed in a box w/ clothes (not a scratch--phew). No swipe at the movers: over-all they did an excellent job.

So I'm looking for a brown case, any leads welcome. I assume this would be for a mid-bowl, I'm not 100% sure about bowl depths.

Thanks!
Bruan

There should be about 30-45 of them to choose from come July 4th at Mt. Vernon!

Welcome Bruan!

Hello Braun. Nice to see another Sounder here. The moderator here, alpep, may be able to help. Or contact him through his website http://www.lostartvintage.com

Check the local Fleabay or Craigslist you'll probably be able to buy it back.

Check Ebay, Sunny Ledges, Its Miles and he has a case for sale. If you are still in Seattle you could drive up for pick up and maybe see a whole bunch of nice Ovations at his place.

I agree, you should check with Miles (eBay sunnyledges, OFC Mr. Ovation) first.

I have a Famous Brown Case for a 1624 Country Artist that I might sell, if I don't to decide to sell the guitar+case in the next few weeks. I think it's mid/artist depth, yours may be deep.

Thanks for the replies! I'll follow up w/ the leads. Is there a way to check bowl depth? E.g., inches through the sound-hole to the inner wall?
cheers--b

Hey there Bruan,
Besides this new one I have a used one too if you really need a brown one. email me at mileskb @ aol.com

Also FWIW, I believe Ovation uses the same case for mid and deep. However, I don't think they even had mid-depth guitars when you got yours. There is only about 1/2 different anyway. I'm sure someone knows when the mid's came out.

Based on Miles' comment, I tried my case with with an Academy (weird plastic Ovation). I measured the depth of the Academy at about 5-1/2" from the lower edge of the soundhole to the bowl. The Country Artist is about 4-1/2" deep and fits more or less flush in the bottom half of the case. The Academy sits higher:

the case still closes OK. Now the Academy has a home other than a gig bag and the Gigantic Brown Case isn't just taking up space in the closet.

Yep, the case I have for an 1117 doesn't fit my Academy. Sold the guitar, kept the case. I have designs on constructing something exotic to store in it, though. Nothing the DEA, ATF, or FDA would be interested in.
