Model 1118-4, Serial K 014.
I traded a Studebaker pickup for it in the early '70s, but never knew much about it. It has several small dings, but is in good condition - any idea of value?

Location: Boise, Idaho | Welcome. Grope your way around this board and look in the reference section. You'll find info on the serial numbers and a spreadsheet on the original prices on model numbers. Do a search for 1118 and you'll probably find a few threads. There's too much information to summarize.
Then bring it over to Mt. Vernon on the 4th of July and meet a bunch of us and play a bunch of other Ovations. Maybe you could catch a ride over with tdeej, if his van isn't too full of guitars and people.

Location: Tennessee | Welcome, Quincy. Does your guitar have the "winged" bridge on it? It is a fairly early one based on the serial number. There were a couple of similar guitars that recently sold in the $600-800 range, both were in very nice condition.
If you scroll down in the general posting area you'll see a few threads on GC12s over the past three weeks or so, complete with pictures and descriptions. Check those out and you'll get a real good feel for what you've got. |

The July 4 Mt Vernon run sounds like a good thing, appreciate the tip Mark in Boise. I should mention that the Cougars are are the team of choice here in Pullman. Stephent28 - I'll get oriented. I have the same fear, or yes, I just TRY to avoid spending it - slow coming in, you know. Stonebobo - I'm not exactly sure what the winged bridge is - I'll have to check that out.

The winged bridge has points on the bottom corners of the bridge. Those were really early. Later, they rounded the bottoms off. I'm not sure that explained anything, but you or someone else may be able to post a picture. |

Location: Pullman, WA | Bluebird -I just took some photos, but they are apparently too large for the site - I'll have to figure out how to shrink them. It appears that it does have the winged bridge because there are definite points at the lower corners.
Mark in Boise - we got snow here yesterday, too. I'm seriously thinking about the July 4 meet in Mt Vernon. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Check Waskel's post at the top of the For Sale section. It may have something on shrinking pics. I use software that came with an old Toshiba camera because it is easy to use. The software that came with our Nikon does more, but seems to take way more steps to get to the same place and isn't very intuitive. |

Location: Pullman, WA | One more question - if I may be so bold as to intrude just a little longerin the "For Sale" area - this guitar has a slight ring with some chords. Is that something a good "set-up" mechanic could reduce or eliminate? Or is it terminal?
Stonebobbo - yes, a set list. I get together with a banjo picker, we just did a short set at a local winery (mainly for the wine, but for fun, too)
Damon67 - Huskies! I prefer the Ducks, even though they come to town and beat us just about as often as the Huskies do. Still, thanks for the kind words on the guitar. |

Location: Tennessee | Sounds like a set-up issue. Could need a neck and/or bridge adjustment, hard to tell without looking at it. Your guitar is rare enough and valuable enough to justify a trip by to the factory to have them look at it and do whatever work is required, however the NW folk probably know some good O mechanics up there.
Wine and song go great together. Add some women and it's about perfect. |

The winery is the Wawawai (pronounced wa wa ee by the locals) Canyon Winery on the Pullman/Moscow highway. They have their own vineyard down on the Snake River below town, and really do produce some good varieties - $25/ bottle. (We usually just break the neck off, it's too hard getting the cork out with just buck teeth) It's a fun venue - real informal, good people. |
