Actually, for anybody looking to add more realistic sounding drum beats to their recordings, this is not a bad unit. Get a pair of sticks and set the pads to whichever drum sounds suit your fancy and have at it.

The current models run about $400 - $500 or more so for someone just starting out or experimenting, this would be a great unit to grab.

I personally own a SPD-20 that I got used and it is a terrific little unit.

Stephen, I don't think this unit has any preprogrammed sounds in it like the SPD series. It's only a midi trigger system. Great to hook up to an electronic drum set though. It adds 8 more pads and sounds or patches.

Day-um, that's what I get for going to the Keys.

TJ, I'm looking for a unit that the G-babies can 'play' with. What would ya recommend? BTW, headphone out mandatory! ;)

Johnny, this one doesn't have any sounds built in, it's only a controller, a series of switches if you will, that trigger sounds in another unit. Yamaha makes a nice unit with a few pads on and has lots of sounds in it. Even sounds decent through a good keyboard amp.
