Guys, my son wants to sell all his bass gear and buy a good acoustic guitar. He'd prefer acoustic only, and is really liking the thought of a sunburst J-45. But any nice Gibson or Martin would be considered. His gear is on Craigslist now. I'm just throwing it out there to see who wants to sell what.

I know there were a couple listed in recent weeks.

What price range?

I have a Taylor DDSM (Doyle Dykes Signature Model) that is a really sweet playing and sounding guitar. You have probably seen my posts that it is the only Taylor I have ever played that I really liked (hence buying it). Major year end reduction of herd is the only reason it is going on the block.

We had two J-45's listed in the last couple of months, $1300 or less. He is seeing them online for $1700 and thinks that is a good deal. I think $1700 is near his top. I'll mention the Taylor to him, but I think he's about as likely to want a Taylor as I am.

Thanks Stephen.

I think most Taylors suck but the DDSM is an exceptional guitar. Won't hurt my feelings one bit to keep it.

Just watch the neck angles on new or recent Gibson acoustics. Way too many leave the factory needing a neck re-set.

Thanks, Paul.

Stephen, I'm not seriously slamming that guitar. I'm sure it's great.

Me too. He's been shopping and finding all kinds of guitars that he likes, so we'll see what happens.
