Location: Reno, NV | Are there any strings or brand of strings that tend to be harder on your frets than others? What about 80/20 vs Phos (92/8) as far as fret wear goes?
Also, does anyone have an opionion on Rotosound strings? |

| Hi Yak,
General rule: the harder the string metal, the more they wear the frets. And, stainless steel fret wire is more durable than nickle-silver fret wire. I've also never used rotosound, but I'm sure another member has.

| rotosound make fantastic bass strings and very good guitar strings - with the exception of their nylon strings which are at least cheap.
Like all strings - you gotta buy a set and see how they sound and feel on your guitar.
Whichever strings you use - you have to put a lot of hours in to wear frets down. And that's what happens sooner or later, so welcome to being a guitar player. |

I'm a recent subscriber to the publication, Fretboard Journal (Thanks, Paul!)...
Where-in, there was an article about RT and mention of his '59 Strat. He "... wore the neck out..."
I was thinking about "wearing the neck out" ... NOT the frets, BUT the neck.... |

| Obviously another elephant-fisted guitar player. Are you sure you're not related? |
