I've wanted a Magnum I bass for a very long time, and I recently acquired one from eBay - nice deal, but it's completely in pieces. No problem, as I enjoy a project. However, a couple of things are missing. I have the big neck pickup, but it didn't come with the plastic "bracket" (for lack of a better word) that it is supposed to mount in, or with the mounting screws and springs. I'm sure that I could rig something up that would work fine, but before I go to the trouble, I thought I'd see if anyone here has any leads on the proper parts. Extensive internet searching didn't really turn up anything but this website.

The other thing that I'm missing, which is pretty minor, is the proper screws to mount the metal ring (which in turn supports the pickups) to the body itself. I should be able to find some that work at the hardware store if needed, but if anyone has the right screws or knows what size to pick up, it would definitely be helpful.

Thanks!

You might try dropping a note to Miles , otherwise known as Mr. Ovation (board admin). He's been known to come up with some pretty obscure parts.

Thanks for the suggestion...I'll try that. While lurking/web-searching, I noticed that he's come up with crazy parts in the past, but I didn't want to come right out and ask directly since I'm still a n00b.

Well welcome DuoSonic2,

Any newbie with a lot of cash is always welcome around here!
:D

Maybe you should skip the middle stuff and just buy a Proto PF22 Bass?

I saw one or two of those PF22s on eBay and was very tempted.

Well if there was a 6 string PF around I'm in

Miles may be away, he's pretty reliable.

He's got two of my guitars, he better be around ;)

I think I just saw Miles and Lisa drive by in a U-Haul with a bunch of "Ron Paul in 2012" stickers on the back.
They were headed South...

Still no luck. Thoughts? I don't want to be a nuisance and keep e-mailing Miles. On the flip side, I'm sure I can rig something to at least get it up and running.

Keep trying. Once you're in the OFC, you are automatically a nuisance. He may be out of town or trying to catch up. Then there's always that real job that gets in the way.
I tried to buy a guitar neck from him and happened to time it so that he was moving from East Coast to West. It took a long time for him to get all his stuff unpacked.

dUOsONICii I don't recall getting an email from you. I was traveling two weeks ago, and it may have been lost in cyberspace between computers I was using. Please re-send with what you need and I'll check the part bin. I'm pretty sure I have the large mounting bracket, springs and screws and such. Anyway, go ahead and send an email to mileskb at aol.com and I'll get it.

Miles, thanks for the note...just sent you an e-mail. I dug through my outbox and couldn't find any trace of the note that I thought I sent you, so I'm thinking that it might be a technical problem on my end.

Thanks again!

Miles has had no luck thus far in locating the neck pickup mounting basket...does anyone else have any leads? I'd be willing to buy a beat-up or incomplete Magnum for parts if anyone has one (and if the price is right).

No Magnum parts here. If you have a broken piece I may be able to help reconstruct.
