Would be a good investment for a trip to the factory...
The top is dry enough, and refinishing with the lighter material they use now would be a substantial improvement to the acoustics.

Looks like someone got it already. Those cedar tops have an awesome sound, and are very hard to come by.

They're great guitars. Almost bought one once. Back in 93, I found my 1537 on the wall of a Guitar Center (back in the days when they weren't big stores) in Santa Ana. A salesman kept trying to sell me on a new Elite cedar. Great guitar, but I knew that the 1537 was special.....

Yep ... The 1547 the one guitar missing from my arsenal. I'm still crying at night for letting Beal outbid me on the one he stole off Ebay.

As I think a little more I'd kinda' like to have a deluxe VXT hanging on thr rack also.
