Very nice. Brings back memories. Maybe worth a complete restoration.

Needs to clean his fingernails. Almost makes me wish that I hadn't sold my Preacher 12, but not quite. These are great guitars that need to be played. I wonder if the person who bought my Preacher 12 is ever going to post whether he/she likes it?

He got his nails dirty cleaning the guitar, so it's okay.

Paul,

I'm awaiting some strings before I do a special photo shoot. BTW, there was very little I could do to improve it. It's superb! Can't wait to plug her in...

Guess I need to update your other post... :D

You'd think for a buy-it-now of $1875 he'd throw in the new bridge. And clean the rust off the hinges too!

Some purists (collectors) would find that sacrilegious and devalue the guitar accordingly.

Damn, I shouldn't have cleaned up my spare electric bridges! That grunge and pitting added "relic" value.

I suppose I did devalue my Deacon bridge when I cleaned it with Brasso about 20 years ago. Took the gold right off. It's a nice shiny chrome color!

Naw... Don't clean the funk off of them, it affects the value.
Don't you watch Antiques Roadshow?

OT- I like how you can buy a new David Gilmour strat...
And for a coupla hundred bucks more, they will dent/scratch it up for ya'...

One thing to remember when talking about best practices for "marketing" on eBay is THERE ARE NO RULES.

While it's important to "HAVE" a picture, in ten years I have yet to see the value of the quality of the picture and I have watched this closely.

One interesting thing about photos is that lower quality photos tend to get more "can you send me additional photos" questions. However, only ONCE in 1000's of listings and specifically 100's of guitar listings, has a request for a picture of ANYTHING resulted in even a bid.

Credit where credit is due, Al mentioned this to me a long time ago. If they ask for a picture, they aren't buying. It's held 99.99% true for 10 years of my business on eBay. I still entertain most of the requests, cause it's just fun to re-prove the point.

I have even seen some things that just defy explanation.. like why do people wait until the last minute of a listing to buy a FIXED PRICE item?

Why do people "watch" items that are in an ebay store at a fixed price?

About the cleaning...
It just depends on the buyer. I prefer to NOT pay for the time someone else took to clean the instrument, I'm perfectly capable of cleaning it myself. Also, you can hide a lot with the right cleaning technique. Than again, grunge can hide a lot too.

Antique silver is an interesting item to sell. It's split about 50/50 on who will buy a cleaned item, and who will not buy a cleaned item.

Some of the best deals I've gotten on eBay have been from listings with small fuzzy photos, dusty dirty items, and cryptic or incorrect descriptions. If you're willing to take a risk, it can work out for the buyer. Some duds too.
