I'm interested in getting one of these in clean condition, natural top. If I did my homework, this is the acoustic only version. Let me know. Thanks. By the way, I'm in Austin, TX, not Brooklyn.

You looking for an old one, or newer? They had different bracing patterns which made a huge difference in the sound.

A bracing (IMHO) is the right answer. I had a 78 1117 with the VT bracing which has been rebuilt with an A braced top. Night and day in the difference. Hated playing it then, love it now.

Good luck with your search.....

I'm with Paul on this one, the "A" bracing makes a world of difference.

That's pretty tempting Arthur. I checked that serial number; it seems to place it at '74. I wonder what bracing that would have had?

Probably VT... But maybe A. [I just checked my 1617, it has A bracing but it's a newer issue]
It sez A on the Ovation homepage, but they have been wrong before.
You could always ask the seller. If he don't know, ask him if he can feel boards by the sound hole.
If it sounds crappy, you can always sell it again for $250 and get your money back. :p
I have a coupla guitars with VT bracing that sound just fine! (1121, 1621, 1627)

I don't think it's possible to buy a used Legend, acoustic only, with A bracing (unless I sold the one I had built). A bracing became the standard late in the 1970 and thru the 1990's. But every Legend I've seen from those years has electronics.

You know, the thing to do is to look for a 1119 from the mid 70's. That would be an acoustic only Custom Legend. All of them were built w/ A bracing.....

Glen's would be a good deal, or possibly this one on ebay Legend on the \'bay . The seller claims it's A braced, but I'd ask for pictures to be certain. When an Ovation center hole has A bracing, the bracing forms a box around the soundhole, with the neck block forming the top of the box. There are braces that run down either side of the sound hole and one across the bottom (on the bridge side). If you can't see those braces, then it's VT braced.
