Compaq EVO W8000 dual xeon workstation matched 2.8 2800mhz xeon hyperthreading processors 400mhz fsb 512k cache

65 watt commercial power supply

2560mb(2.5gb) pc800 40ns ecc rambus rimm memory(expandable to 4gb)

256mb ATI Firegl agp/pro x2 dual dvi and svideo graphics/workstation card..(based on 8700 series processor with cad/cam and cga enhancements) full directx 9 and spectacular 3d performance both in Direct3d and OpenGl applications.

73gb 15k scsi drive for OS currently halved one ntfs partition for XP Pro other partition is setup and striped in software raid with second 36gb scsi drive running JackLab Linux studio edition 1.0

500gb Western digital 7200rpm ide drive w/16mb buffer for media and project storage... currently formatted NTFS still one ide channel open and can expand to 1tb of storage with another 500gb drive.

DVD+-RW dual layer burner/drive
CDR-RW burner/drive

10/100/1000 Belkin gigabit nic
firewire and usb 1.0 and 2.0 ports

E-MU 0404 DAW card with breakout cables for midi, spdif, optical digital, and stereo 1/4 l/r in/outs includes cubase, protools, guitar pro 4, and many patches and modules softwares for the various effects and editing.

ATSC/NTSC HDTV Video tuner card, FM tuner, and DVR card.. with wireless remote... watch HD digital TV on your computer, or pump it to your flatscreen... will also operate as a Tivo recording your shows for you.

system has a win 2000 Pro COA, and I have a legal copy of that if you'd like it installed and will include the disk with the computer, or I will Leave the XP Pro on it and it is also a legal copy with all updates and service packs... which will also be included if that is your choice of OS, the system is Vista Ultimate capable... and will run it well... but why? all I've determined about vista is massive bloat.

this system will pretty much do it all, recording, producing, editing, and conversion of audio, video, and looping, overdubbing and synth tracks..and play and record your favorite TV shows in HD and received over the new digital frequencies.

The Linux Studio is really great, and is a great backup when the MS/Windows products do their normal oops every now and then.. you can always climb back into the system with the linux and make repairs to your windows system when needed.

anyway, all original software disks and drivers for all hardware and software and all oem registration codes and documentation will be included with the system... if you have a specific configuration you'd like, or an alternate Linux backup, or no Linux backup, let me know....it really likes the new Sabayon or Mandriva Powerpack editions..

This system even runs the newest PC games with decent frame rates with visual effects wide open with no problems, and is really cool playing them on your bigscreen lcd's or plasmas..

This monster weighs about 50 pounds... and was originally designed for CGA animation, AVID video systems, CAD/CAM design, 3-d rendering, etc.... the old floppy drive has been removed to make a place for the IR receiver for the Digital TV tuner, and no-one uses floppys anymore anyway... but I will include the original 1.44 drive as well..

asking $550 OBO plus shipping. the memory, vid card, HD tuner card, and 500gb drive alone cost more than that..

Thanks,

Glenn

well, I was within 5 minutes of completing the re-install of XP-PRO...after doing a DOD wipe and getting a completely clean and new install on the system, when the CDROM exploded..blew the front cover off of the CD drive, and threw a million pieces of sharp acrylic around my media room... good thing the computer sits sideways in front of me instead of the drives facing me, or I would have been cut up by the shrapnel... the CDRW drive is toast, but I will install a new memorex unit... and MS is sending me a Brand New Replacement copy of XP-Pro w/SP3 to replace the one that failed.... tho they will not do anything about the damaged drive.. the cd was always stored in it's folder and box since new.. and was a retail copy from Staples that I purchased new about 4 years ago..

anyway, just as a warning, if anyone has high speed cdrom/dvd rom drives... make sure they are not facing you or at eye level when being used either in writing mode, or in reading or install mode as was the case when this happened..

It was more than scary, and could have blinded me easily.

I'll have my new copy in 7-10 days from the boys in Redmond... and then get to re-install everything all over again.

Glenn

Wow. I have heard of this happening, but that hits a little too close to home. Glad you're okay.

Day-um Glenn. It should have had the Claymore mine caution on it: “Front Toward Enemy”
