Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado | Hi All,
Have a question.
First of all I don't watch too much TV.. At least reality shows. But over the last couple of weeks I have noticed that they are now putting tape over the head stock logo of a guitars and basses. First saw it on a show called "Jammin" that is basically talent hunt type of show. There was a shot of the bass head stock and the Fender logo was neatly taped over. Later you could see all the guitars were the same way. Then tonight while flipping channels, I stopped on... America's Got Talent(?) or something like that. A guy was playing an acoustic that looked like an old Gretsch. But when they panned by the head stock, it also had the mysterious black tape over the logo.
Is this a new trend, or have I just not been watching much?
I am guessing it would go like this: "If you want your logo seen by millions on our show, you must pay! If not, it's black tape time!"
Any of this make sense?

In this commercial driven world, If you haven't paid for it to be seen....it ain't gonna be seen!
Just about every show now days either has an item/product's name or logo taped over or blurred out.....sometimes you can't see whats on the screen for all the blurred spots! |

I was just watching a satire of Australian Government which has Apple Macs everywhere in Parliament House, when they are really a bunch of generic PCs. Shots seem to be specially framed to show the Apple symbol or "iMac". |

Nashville Star. When they show a clip of "practice" or the contestant playing at a park, home or where ever, they all play there own guitar. Then when they preform, I've noticed they suddenly are playing Taylor's. Not all the time but most of the time. Taylor MUST be sponsoring the show. Nothing I've seen though, in terms of "logo's" is "taped over". |

Location: Utah | There's a country music video where the guy drives around in an old 1950's Ford pickup truck. The letters F O R D on the front grill are blurred out on every shot. Ridiculous.
I was wondering if it went the other way, that the video producer didn't have permission to use the FORD logo. |
