I just got one of these delivered today, and it is a nice little toy. For about a third of the price of a Roland MicroCube... And the Crate has two 4" Speakers as opposed to the single 5" in my MC.
(I haven't done a side-by-side with the MC yet... Later)
I just wanted to share this... Could be cool to take out camping or whatever. Plus they might be discontinuing them, which would explain the Sale!

I like all dem cheap little amps. And I just got this and I think it is alright.
Just wanna share a bargain with all y'all other broke folks.

Just got it... My MicroCube lasts awhile. I run it on rechargeable batteries and don't use the adapter. If you read the reviews, nobody complains about battery life. Some complain about other problems, but if it breaks (or you don't like it) within 45 days you can send it back. If memory serves me right, MF pays return shipping.
On my MC/Camera/iDea Preamp I use rechargeable batteries and they are well worth the investment.

I'm a huge fan of rechargeables! Here in 'cane country, they're invaluable.

Here\'s where I get my supplies. Get on their mailing list and you'll get some great deals.

Just an update... I just had to change batteries in this thing.

Like my MicroCube, this starts 'clicking' when the batteries die. [Scared me too! ]

Now, since they are (cheap) rechargeable batteries I'm not exactly positive about their charge level.

I have been using this since I got it, but the Roland MicroCube usually lasts weeks...
Maybe I have been playing with this thing more than usual since I have the Viper and the Warlock both out, and this is a New Toy.

BUT this has two speakers and it is rated at 5 watts...
The MicroCube has one speaker and is rated at 2 watts...
Therefore it might use more juice, y'think?

[if you click the link, they will be back-ordered til 4/10/09]

OMA,

No cables whatsoever. If ya need one, I might have a spare fer ya. LMK and I'll poke around and find one...

I've played with the setting a lil' bit and am finding it difficult to find what I like. The 'clean' is the best so far. But my last major experience with amps was with an ol' Fender Pro Amp with nuttin'... 'bout 45 years ago!

Depends on what guitar you have plugged into it.
Were I using an O in it I just go for the two Acoustic setting (1 & 2) and maybe a bit into the Medium gain settings.
I also play with the Viper and Warlock with the other stuff.
(haven't tried it with the Bich... gotta do that)
More gain for Iron Man!

But as far as using the O's... I just got it for alittle added oompf!
(Plus it is a cheap little toy)
They say that the MSRP is $156... They are dreaming!
But I am just a cheap bargain-hunter.

OMA, can you provide any details on size and weight? I'm always looking for something that can be packed into carry-on luggage for use with the Traveler Pro. On my last trip, I carried a Fender Frontman 15R, but it still consumes a lot of room in a backpack and has only the AC power option.

Brad, it weighs 7 lb 1 oz. without the AC adapter. Measures 11"W x 8 1/4"H x 7 3/4"D. It also has strap buttons on both sides and a built-in carry handle.

OMA,

As to battery charge levels, I have a Tenergy Smart Charger which has the capability to pull down the remaining charge prior to recharging. I've found that the batts seem to last longer doing so. It takes a bit longer to charge but with longer life.

I saw this in an ad from Guitar Center last night. If I can get over there, I might have to pick it up for $50. Another amp to add to the collection in case I ever start plugging something in.

Mark,

I rarely plugged in prior to getting the lil' Crate. But it's so light and handy that I'm pluggin' in a lot more often now.

So far it's gotten more use that the other two or three or ... I have!

Thanks, Iffy. It also looks idiot proof, so I'll have to have the ultimate idiot test it. Did you know that I was able to figure out how to use a dummy plug all by myself?
