Location: North Carolina | I'd rather be skeptical than gullible. My initial skepticism of anything can be and has been proven wrong over the years but I'd still rather sit back and see how things develop before committing.
Example, when I first encountered Ovations way back, I thought "Gimmick" OK, I was wrong about that. But remember the EnhancR, the little thing that went under the bridge to give your acoustic a reverby sound? Gimmick. How about the brass plate that went on the back of the headstock to increase sustain? Gimmick. Any capo that costs more than $15? Gimmick (although I own a few) The list goes on.
Flipping though the latest Acoustic Guitar magazine, I saw an ad for the Blueberry guitar with a top that looks like it's made of wicker. They cut little grooves in the top to get this effect and, lo and behold, it's an acoustic breakthrough! Well, my Gimmick Detector was pinned over on 10, just like it was when I first saw the ad for the Babicz guitar, although I have since seen glowing reviews for it.
So does anyone know anything about the Blueberry? Are they on to something or is it just marketing hype? |
