Maybe I just need to go to a music store and sample some low end Yamahas or something?

(02C, 99C, 98C, 92C, others?) But I think they're all mid-bowls right? They might not be the tonal equivalent of a 1537 (not many O's are), but they sound nice and they have New Hartfords best workmanship in them just like all the other Collectors Series. The only deep bowl veneer top I know if is my Bubinga Custom Elite. And it has a very nice sound either flat-picked or finger-picked. ![]()

I would think that a solid wood would be better for an all-around take along, albeit more expensive if you lost it, or whatever. I'm sure you'll enlighten me. Patch, that guitar you're showing here is waaaay too pretty to be dragged and knocked around 'outside'! So is the pretty blue one that Iffy posted ...

Willa, laminated tops are physically stronger than solid timber. An impact or stress can cause splitting along the grain in solid timber, that won't happen to a laminate. The reason being that when laminates are made the grain does not run in the same direction in each layer. AJ

They usually need a bit of set up but nothing that a little filing off the nut and saddle wont take care of. Cheap small and disposable if a disaster strikes. http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar/product/Yamaha/FG... I have only played one that need to have the saddle dropped and the truss rod tightened a bit but otherwise it was a very nice little git for the $$.

Asking $400- but I'm sure that the seller bought it from a CL listing @ $200 about a month ago. If it's still around he might be realizing that he's not going to make a quick flip and double his money. I have a beater 1624 Country Artist that I'd sell pretty cheap, but it's a mid depth nylon string and maybe not what you want. Close enough to deliver though. -Steve W.

That said I think I would be suprised if it went for 650 in todays market.yeah i kind of battled with that guy trying to double his money, he wrote me this big story about how he buys food from the food bank and all this stuff, i told him I wouldnt give him over 200 and he said oh well i'll just keep it then. is that Ovation 1767 Legend * 1990 a good deal? is it worth like 650$ or so?
