The wire on the pickup in my 2080 is shorting out. I put a white pickup in it, but it just doesn't look right.

Anyone have a black one they're willing to part with?

Sorry... Had to do it before someone else did...

I guess that you have already considered using a Sharpie Marker, huh?

Black or Bone is the harder to find option.

Have you talked to Mother?

(Pardon the newb question but I gotta ask...)

Is replacing the wire on the original (black) pickup an option? Or do you have to replace the entire pickup?

Yeah, got a price. I'm a bit tight on funds at the moment though.

Dunno. If I move the wire off to one side it works fine, as soon as I let go it goes away and starts making nasty noises.

Anyone fix a pickup wire before?

As for painting/sharpie option, I don't want it looking ghetto. Has anyone done this with satisfactory results?

If the problem really is in the wire, it might be possible to fix it. You could cut off all but an inch or two and graft a new cable (and connector?) on. If you're lucky the fault will be away from the pickup. If you're unlucky the problem is right at or inside the pickup. Probaly hard to fix if that's the case.

This may sound like a dumb answer, but if that's a standard wide saddle why don't you just switch the covers. They pop right off.

I like your dumb answer, TJ, but being a programmer I'm always attracted to the elegant (simple) solution.

Numbfingers does make a good point, IF the fault is somewhere in the wire run (unlikely) and not at the P/U connection. Better make sure it's a good solid soldered join at the splice, or you'll have trouble with it eventually.

Well, I thought since he already had another PUassy, he could just change the saddle top to the black one. It's pretty simple to do and would eliminate any wiring problems. Trash the old one, sans cover, install the black cover on the new white one, voila, done. Simplicity at its best. :p

I spose it might work if they were both new pups but the white one is the older style with the black ends that pop off. It would also require me to drill holes for those tabs on the ends.

I spose I just need to save up the $ and have Mother send one.
