Joined: May 2006 Posts: 4236 Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | Here's a lovely little SSB Legend in excellent condition that I'm willing to get a little creative with or sell outright. They don't make a better gigging guitar than these puppies unless you manage to track down one of those elusive SSB Adamii. (Good luck with that. Right Dweez?) Anyway, here are the basics: The serial number (564858) dates it to 2002. It has a AA Grade Solid Sitka Spruce top with an inlaid rosette of ebony and Mother-of-pearl. (VERY PRETTY!) It's A-braced and has a scale length of 25 1/4". The neck is ebony and also has MOP inlay. The nutwidth is 1 11/16" and the tuners are gold. Finally it has the OP 24+ pre-amp. (OK I admit to swapping it from my Book Mando, which now has a 24Plus C...with a tuner. ) The condition is excellent with only a small ding in the lower right bout roughly the size of a pinhead. It plays just fine. I'll put new strings on it before shipping as well. I do NOT have a case for it, but I will get one for you before shipping if you like. (I'd have to price them locally first) I'm asking $450 for a straight sale. BUT.... I'm thinking of trying a project or two, so I might be willing to trade for a couple of beaters to rebuild. So any BFLG'ers who want this one might be able to talk me into trades or trades + cash deals. I'm mostly looking for deep or contour bowls at the moment. Likewise, I'm in the market for a nice MM-68 mandolin to front for my book mando. I don't like taking it out so often, but I have no other mando to play. I'm open to other ideas as well, but be aware that whatever I trade for might be kept, scrapped for rebuild, or flipped. Even I won't know for sure until the dealing's done. One other thing: about the pictures; I discovered something quite by accident last night. Taking pictures of the Ruby Redburst finish is much easier at dusk. You can take the same shot with and without a flash to really show off this finish! Hence, some of the backgrounds look much darker than others, but I've done no doctoring other than turn the flash on and off. Well...I also cropped my photos to make them look a little more....staged or something. (In reality, I only had about 5 or 10 minutes to take the pictures before it got too dark to bother.) Thanks for looking everyone! ![]()

I no longer actually own an Ovation due to current circumstances. have 2 great loaners tho. Good Luck with the sale! Glenn

When I put new strings on it yesterday, I found another blemish. It's kind of odd and tough to describe though. But here goes.... Right next to the fretboard (lower edge) there is a blemish you can feel where the ebony soundhole ring is inlaid into the fretboard. You can see it if you look at it right. But from even a short distance, it's invisible. Frankly, it's much easier to feel than to see. I've enlarged the area in the photos below, but it's almost invisible, and the pic was taken from less than two feet away. I've doubled the photo with another that has a yellow line to show you more or less where to look. The blemish is about 1/2" long and follows the inlay curve perfectly. (It's not straight like the line is.) So tell me what you've got folks. I really would like another MM-68, and I realize I would have to add a little cash for one. Of course, a straight sale is fine too. ;) BTW, I put medium D'Addarios on it, and it really sings for an SSB. I'll tell you what; this ain't a half bad little instrument at all! And it looks sharp to boot! Talk to me somebody! ![]()

Out of simple courtesy, I'm going to hold the guitar for him until then. I'll post any updates (one way or the other) as soon as I have them. In the meantime, thank you everyone for your interest.
