I found the sound very closed to MB or DB Adamas unplugged, and the same when plugged.
However 1750 USD is too expensive, 1100-1300 USD would be better. |

| I am looking for a 12 string in an Adamas 2 or preferably an Adamas 1 in this SSB style.
I just bought an ADAMAS 1 SSB in mint condition and it as very comforatable to have on stage. It rides like an electric guitar and plugged in everyone in the band is amazed how professional the sound is with this thing. It went real cheap on the open market through ebay. $1,350.00 It is not at all bad acoustically either.
If anyone has one to sell they'd be well advised to hang on it for a while if they plan to use ebay.... as the sale prices are at an all time low....(not that you would not already know this) An Adamas 2 in this shallow bowl style would most likly not fetch $900 in todays open market auction through ebay. |

Location: South of most, North of few | Yes, 1750 is out of the realm of reality, but it may be negotiable. At that price, it might be around long enough to grow mold. Not my cup of tea, as I don't think it would be much acoustically, but as a plugged in gigging guitar, it would be great. And I know a lot of people here like the red ones. |

Go try to buy a similar quality carbon guitar from Rainsong or CA and see what it sets you back. Plus SSB adamas are not exactly common place. I think this seller is asking exactly what it's worth. Unfortunately I'm with you the real "worth" is set by the buyers and I'm afraid that Ovation/Adamas reputation will drag this one down near a grand. That's really too bad. |

$1750 is too steep for me. I paid less than half that for my black one (on Ebarf six years ago) and put another $150 into it so it played right. No doubt I got a killer deal in a good seller's market.
There might be someone who has been wanting a red 1881 for a long while and would be willing to spend that much since this one is available and appears to be in outstanding condition. There are only a few of us who really know what this is and the market doesn't really favor the seller at this time. I would love a red one, but not at that price.
Maybe deals like the one bvince just got on that blemished 2008 CE Adamas ($1699!!!) blind some of us a bit. We can't all stumble on a find like that, but we would all like to. |

Location: Miami | IF this thing sounded better to me than a midbowl textured top acoustically as well as plugged in, I would pay that price because of the rarity and the condition. Problem is, I don't want to buy it to try it only to find that it doesn't sound better (to me) and then have to resell it.
That's the story with so many Adamases. The closest thing I found was a 1781S that proved a bit too bassy for me, but it wasn't a problem because I had 7 days to try it and return it if it didn't work out for me.
I'm thinking an SSB with the same top might work, ie the 1881 but it's an expensive chance I can't take afford right now. The solution? None that I know of. Just venting to my OFC family :-)
Wish I could hear it first. Alas, that's the story of my GAS. |

| No hypocracy here I can see. The market is what the market is. And the Market is bad all over and has been for some time. I too have a few guitars I might like to part with but I can see it would not be good timing to do so now and perhaps never?
I love my car too but if I see the prices are not fetching what they were a few years ago, then I am not foolish enough to consider buying one for the old price just because I respect the brand. |
