Folks, never thought I'd do this, but I'm selling my OFC guitar. This was the first OFC guitar, a remake of the original slothead acoustic electric. It's the original blue and is a 2 knobber. Pictures can be found on the ning site, here - OFC guitar

Along with the guitar comes the carbon graphite case, the luggage tag (if you want it as it has my name on it), and the OFC strap that Al had specially made for this guitar.

The price is $6500. The originals are now going for $12,500 and I believe that this is a fair price.

Why am I selling it? Frankly, this last year has been a very tough year for work and my oldest is in college. As beautiful as this guitar is, I've never really bonded with it. I've come to realize that by and large, I'm a wood top kinda guy (I still have my Adamas I 12 string and will not part with that). I can use the money instead of having it tied up in a guitar that sits on the wall.

There is one problem with the guitar and I'm having it fixed at the factory (the guitar will ship to you from the factory). The electronics have never worked right and it's driven me crazy. Parts have been replaced and I still get (not always, but most of the time) every other string when plugged in. And yes, I know which plug to use. I'm going to send it to the factory in the next day or so and it will ship directly to you from there.

I want this guitar to find a good home. It's an excellent instrument. Beautifully made, great tone, wonderful vibe. Al outdid him self with this one, but it's just not me.

First of all, as I have #7, the 47RI, and now #50 of the original - this guitar is gorgeous in in appearance, playability, 'voice' as only a slothead Adamas could. Also, the case will knock your socks off.

This is the a/e, specifically developed by Al and the Adamas crew to be their best effort after studying how the originals that were made back in 1976 (and after practicing on the 47RI. In fact, by myself and others, the pre-amp is better than the original. This is far more rare (only 12) than the 47RI. And, the Ovation Fan Club guitar.

After buying the 47RI, I was hesitating on getting the OFC guitar. Al said, "Tony, there is no way you are not getting the OFC guitar!"

I am sorry to see Paul sell it. It is a fortunate opportunity for anyone on the OFC to be able to buy it. Remember, check out the archives how hard and long it took to get the Ovation Fan Club guitar made. I don't expect that there will be an opportunity to buy an original, the OFC, or a 47RI for a long time.

Hopefully, it stays in the "family". I would hate to see it disappear like so many of the Adamas have.

I knew this was coming for a while. Sombody is going to get a gem. These are the rarest of the rare with provenance. They've got the special label with the signatures and all that. I figure it'll be probably be another five years before another one comes available. You may want to put this up on eBay. The dollar is real cheap these days so it'll probably go overseas.

An OFC guitar should stay within the OFC family.
I would hate to see it go somewhere where it would never surface again.

but I also know when you need to sell something sentiments can go flying out the window.

Good luck Paul....hope you change your mind but if not I hope it stays in the immediate OFC family.

It'll shock me if this isn't grabbed up. Even more than you selling it.

Somebody here needs to get this. If I wasn't about to pull the trigger on a couple of high-end wood boxes it'd be on the way to me. Best of luck, Paul. Sorry you feel the need to get rid of it.

Awwww g8r, the wood boxes can wait another couple months. This will soon be gone forever.

If I had gotten OFC2 #3 from AL instead of #6 I would seriously be thinking about grabbing it just to have the set with matching serials.

so....actually thanks Al for saving me from myself!

The electronics are fixed. I swapped them out with another set of the 2 knobber reissue and it works just fine.

This guitar is going up on ebay early next week. Anybody interested?

I'll go as low as $5200.

Well, I just plugged the guitar in today and once again, I'm getting every other string thru the amp, so the problem isn't fixed.

It's going to have to go back to the factory. Sorry.

Every other string inop should be a simple connection problem in the PUAssy. As I understand it the PUAssy is constructed with the strings alternating, then the two segments are connected together into one, which is connected to the cable that goes to the preamp. Simply swapping in a new saddle with wiring harness and plugging it into the preamp should fix it. No?

He's tried that. Plus everything else under the sun. How can the god damn thing work one day and not the next. Over and over again?

Paul, rip out the guts and install two dummy 1/4 jacks and two dummy pots. Call it acoustic only and it'll command a premium as the only acoustic only one of the twelve. Btw, I TRIED to order mine acoustic only and was told NFW. Bastards.

Paul, if you want to swap your electronics for mine we can do that. Mine has never been plugged in and never will be. It's just a wall hanger to look at. I should check first and make sure it works.
