Location: Ohio | I apologize to those of you that responded to my posting !, I neglected to include some very basic information reguarding the guitar.It has factory stickers marking it as ; 1431-W , 25577. It also is the "cherry" finish,complete with Grover tuners and it's original case.This guitar has had only two owners,and is as clean as I have ever seen one !!,I will include some photographs A.S.A.P.!...As far as price is concerned,I will have to give that a bit more thought,(sorry),I have a few more guitar Guru's to talk to , Thank's ! Folks were not being rude to you, they were trying to help you. We have a rule that is well known by people who have been here for awhile that you must post a price with any item for sale.
It was however brought to my attention that this information was not posted clearly at the top of the forum, so I have done so.
Unlike other boards, people around here will generally try to help you, all you need to do is listen (read).
Good luck with the sale.. Nice guitar. As I stated in other threads, I was sorry I sold any of mine and now that I have one again, it will not leave. |

Location: Cincinnati | I don't know if the price is too high, but they are worth whatever the buyer is willing to pay. This one is absolutely beautiful. Just a few light marks on the back. Otherwise it looks unplayed and sounds fantastic. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | I've have mentioned this before.. but there is a combination of factors that make this guitar unique, and maybe that's the key word... unique.
Maybe not in looks... but there really isn't a reasonable way to reproduce this "exact" instrument today at any price. The wood isn't available and neither are the pickups and the finish products and glues are no longer used either to my knowledge. There is "similar wood" that is available, and "similar" pickups, and any decent shop could get the finish to "look" the same, and likely much better glues to attach the neck... but it wouldn't be the same.
The guitar is heavy. Uncomfortable yes, but with that much mass... sustain for days. And speaking of sustain, those pickups are still a benchmark of what a Humbucker should sound like and are still very sought after pickups.
From the point of looks, regardless of the "Ovation" name on the headstock, the shape of the headstock matches that body style much more than the more recognized paddle shape that is so popular.
These combination of factors is what makes the guitar worth whatever someone is willing to pay. Even if someone had the money to assemble all the original ingredients... I'm sure "aging" and build technique (good bad or indifferent) all play a factor into the final product.
In short... you could get a much better built, finished and sounding guitar for the same price or much less... but if you want THIS guitar with THIS sound, there is only one way to get it.
Does a late 1950's Les Paul look, sound and play so many $1000's of dollars better than a brand new one for a few thousand? Yet... JUST THE PICKGUARDS sell for $2,500 !!!! That makes even less sense to me. |

I just find it amusing that this particular guitar is so highly regarded. I wouldn't cross the street for it. But what the hell do I know,,,?? |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | If only the rules of guitar prices had some logic... based on my own opinions above(unique, sought after etc...) if there was a sliding scale... a Breadwinner should go for at least 10K at this point strictly on historical significance, followed closely by the UKII for innovation. |
