If someone has a tube (EL34) stereo power amp for guitar that needs a home, I may have the spot for it, I may have an amp you are interested in.
I have been revisiting my "sound" in listening and transferring old VHS tapes to CD. While my guitar "sound" and everything else is pretty horrible on these tapes it got me thinking about my favorite rigs and why I liked them, and also why I have a lot of amps and gear I don't use and likely never will.
It seems I keep going back to a hybrid setup. Some sort of solid-state pre-amp like Rockman, ART, or even Vox, and a tube power amp. My favorite tube amps have EL34 tubes.
However, as I went through the different stages of gear between stomp boxes and rack mount, it seemed I never stopped to think about a rackmount EL34 based tube amp.
I have two "main" rigs.. now and each is missing something the other has. My Carvin head and 4x12 cabinet is great, but it's not stereo and while it sounds great, it doesn't play well with effects I want to use. My Rockman XPR with it's Rockman 500 amp is great, but lacks the warmth and character of a tube final stage.
Anyway... I know there are a lot of folks out there that like me have more gear than we need and while we should probably unload it we don't.
..... back on topic, I'm looking for an EL34 powered stereo rackmount guitar amp. I have several combo amps, including several Ovation guitar, keyboard and base amps and lots of other gear, so a trade may be in order.
If you have an amp that fits the bill and is just collecting dust, I could really put it to use, and who knows... I may have just the amp you are looking for. Email me at mileskb at aol.com |

This is less than a week old and already was 20+ threads down the list. |

Miles, you're transferring VHS to CD? Are you only keeping the audio, then? |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Actually I meant to say DVD... LOL... I'm transferring the VHS stuff to DVD.. and also to files for upload to ning and such.
The audio is terrible. Some of the video is passable but in most cases it was just a camera on a tripod near the sound board or somewhere in the room. This was all pre-YouTube so the thought that it would ever be seen or used was not even a thought. It was just tapes to hone our own performance. |
