| I can tell you I was hoping this would stay a secret until I could find out about electronics get down to his place to try it and possibly make a good enough offer.
Just bought some brass engines for the HO Scale Railroad project, and I have included a couple of SSB Adamii so broke the bank but have irons in the works.

I was wondering about the possibility of the MS converting a 1537 over to one of these. I'm probably a bit ignorant on the subject, but it looks to me like it would just take a neck and a bridge put on a good existing Elite body. (???) |

Location: So. Cal. | If you just want the look and yes, just the neck and bridge will do. I am not sure exactly what they did differently from the Adamas. But bear in mind this is a very early model (back cover in the middle, gold company logo on the heel). The tone, volume, ring from this guitar is both powerful and sweet at the same time.
I haven't played Al's dreadnought, but I think he's played this one. I am not sure if he remembered, since he wasn't feeling well that day when he was here. |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | Looking back to an earlier discussion on wood top Adamas guitars (July 23,2002) I answered SOME of my own questions ... 3 wood top Adamas prototype guitars were made. One Samova has, another (the dreadnaught)is Als, and another showed up in Maine with TJR. These were the predecessors to the early Elites, which are outstanding guitars in their own right, but I'd like to know why they didn't go with the Adamas idea initially? Too expensive to produce? I know now that these Adamas models were deeper due to the Adamas carved trim around the top (1/4 " deeper),Ovation fan bracing (on one at least), but I'm curious about whether it has the same ply-reinforced section under the epaulets? If so, it seems like it would sound like the 1537, unless the differece in necks changes things. Kinda like the difference between the Adamas I and the Adamas II? Sorry for all the rambling, but I'm a bit intriged. |

As in the case of the original slotheads --> production Adamas with much less; 12-fret U681 prototype --> production with a different top; woodtop Adamas --> 1537 with simpler design... and MB 500E --> 400E that's half the price but only 10% the fun left.... reality versus dreams |

It's got a slotted head and funny plastic strings.

Location: SoCal | Charlie didn't want to make a wood topped Adamas. The prototypes were all made by Nick Macklin up in Mooseup at the Adamas factory. He was curious as to what could be done with a wood topped Adamas configuration. It was only after the first ones were built and got a positive reception that Charlie relented.
