Location: south east Michigan | Even though it was months ago some of the things Matt told me down at Amelia is still bubbling to the surface. I've always marveled at Matt's take on "Love The One Your With" and wanted try one on my own.
Matt's advise had nothing to do with scales or mechanics. He asked me "How does the song make you feel?".
So I tryed "Things We Said Today" with a feeling of passionate despertation.
Breadwinner is on the right track, UTE on the left.

I used the Digi only on the "Sometimes when I'm lonely..." line. I tried to restrain myself. If that one line doesn't stand out perhaps I was a little too frugal with it. |

Also time to step up and add that 2nd track of harmonies instead of using the Digitech. Save the Digi for live work.
Very nice. I think you accomplished what you set out to do. |

1st) I have not developed a good ear for singing harmonys but it's coming along. The digi will help me to hear harmonys better. And... I've only been playing around with it for a couple weeks!!!
2nd) I don't play out very often at all. |

You have all the tools necessary to play around with harmonies in the comfort of your home without relying on gadgetry.
Just record that 2nd track with your vocal harmony and if you don't like it, just mute it or delete it and redo it. Over time you will really get the feel for doing harmonies whether via recording or live. Live harmonies, warts and all just sound better and I know you can do a good job with them.
Fact: Elvis never could sing harmonies and BB King can't sing and play at the same time........... |

Location: NJ | You COULD just record a harmony track(s) w/the Digitech, amd then go back and record a track of you singing in unison with the harmony track (& help your ear-training). Once you're happy with your harmony(ies), go back & delete the Digi track. |

Not to pick on Moody (but it IS P.O.M. day, isn't it?), I remember once someplace I started to play for him my "turned on it's ear" version of some song I forget what it was, but he stops me about 4 bars in "NO, NO, it goes like THIS!" It musta been some Glen Campbell song.

Now that I'm farther along the learning curve, I'm enjoying it. You can fiddle-fart around with a song till it comes out right or maybe way different than what you intended.
I have to be careful.
I am attracted to all the pre-sets that there are to play with. Distortion, tremelo, country, surf, british, small tweed.... It's all very seductive.
I've used the Breadwinner more in the last week than the last 3 years.
