I didn't grow up with computers. They appeared on the scene about mid-career, long after I'd been promoted beyond any absolute requirement to use one. I'm still adjusting. The edit on which this thread is based serves as an example.

Ah, Professor... The fact that you and many others got along just fine without computers only goes to prove that they are a frivolous waste of time. And Toyota's brake and accelerator problems also proves that they are many functions that work Better without computers. They make people mentally lazy. 2500 years ago people could recite the complete Iliad and Odyssey from memory... Now people cannot do multiplication without a calculator.

I'd have shut it down from the get-go if I could've. This was originally my post about the east coast storm. After posting, I realized I was in the wrong section, switched it over to the general section, and edited all the content. Then it grew legs and took off. Sorry folks.
