I think this is a great deal on this 1617-4. As most of you know, I own a lot of O's and A's, and I have to say that my 1617-4 Legend is one of THE sweetest sounding guitars I have. I have often picked it up and comparison played it against some of my 'better' guitars, and it blows me away everytime ... anyhoo ... I suppose each guitar is a tad different, but I swear mine has a bit of magic in it, especially if it sounds good when I play it!

Figured I'd post it here just in case someone wants to grab her. Again, I have no affiliation whatsoever with the seller, I just caught this while perusing FleaBay.

For those of you who already own one, I'm curious: what do you think of yours?

That's got a foil label in it, so it's probably a VT bracing and not the A-braced Legend. the 1617s eventually used the A-bracing (A-bracing first was used in the custom Legend 1119 and 1619). I'm pretty sure they were using the blue paper label by the time the bracing changed. The sound between the A-braced Legend and the VT braced are night and day. I bet this thing doesn't sound anything like yours Willa, assuming yours is the A-braced version.

Another thing that changed on the 1617, and the rest of the models for that matter, was the truss rod. There was a period where there were "pre-Kaman bar" A-braced 1617s, but it was a short stint. Those are my favs, the 1617/1619, A-braced, pre-Kaman bar. The Kaman bar didn't make the guitar any better or worse really, I just like the feel of the pre-K-bar necks better.

Well, mine has a k-bar (blue label) ... all I know is that everytime I pick it up I am amazed at how good it sounds. Considering my playing ability, I should sell everything off and just keep that one, ha! If the aforementioned one sounds like mine, someone got a helluva guitar for $150 bucks. All I know is that mine sounds SWEET and is truly a beautiful looking guitar, too. I wonder if one of our members here snagged her. Hope so. I truly don't understand why most of the 1617's I've seen, K bar or not, go for such low prices ... do people LISTEN when they buy guitars? I'm beginning to wonder.

Maybe people should wear blindfolds when trying out potential new acquisitions ... that would be fun to watch! Maybe the one I have is just a 'fluke' and most of them sound so-so?

Kbar isn't the difference in sound. You have an A-braced Legend, much sweeter tone to my ear. The one that went for $150 sounds pretty much like a Balladeer did back then. It has VT bracing.

Your Legend would blow it away acoustically. Most Legends I've played with A-bracing sound pretty close assuming the bowls are the same. I doubt your Legend was a fluke. They're just that good.
