Mr. Parcelforce brought these today...

The 93C is gorgeous and is lovely to play and nice tone...

The 06C is a litle disappointing :( Need a little time to acquaint myself with the neck / body perhaps. But I did notice a rather large bulge behind the bridge. And a slight dip in the epaulet, should I worry? The bracing look OK inside and nothing is loose and no cracks etc. It's a bit of a worry that it has such a large bulge and is only a year old! Any thoughts? Thanks (thought I'd ask the experts first, thats you not the Mothership :) )

The bulge in the '06 is fine. The new Ovations are designed that way. Your Redwood beauty is not.

There's been talk about the Redwood not handling temp/humidity swings as well as other woods. Be careful with it this heating season.

Beautiful guitars! John <>{

The redwood is flat as a pancake. Boy it's a joy to look at and play. A sweet voice, will record "Carolan's Draught" with it tonight and post on my member page. Ta.

Here's more pics of me beauty (this one is a keeper)

Are you referring to what look like two cracks on either side of the body. Looks like they have been repaired possibly, the laquer on the top over them is super smooth but I wonder if this is a repair job and could get worse.

I've asked the Mothership for their opinion on the 01C "cracks"

That redwood top is someting else. Hard to tell in a photo, but does the rippling have a lot of depth? The depth of the ultimate flame maple tops look spectacular and I'll bet the redwood does as well. The deep grain walnut tops are also very nice looking.

Dweez, nice gits! I love my new 07C from Al, and plugged in it is huge. The VIP images are ho-hum, but the normal plugged in tone just sounds fantastic.

Flysig,

I like the mix about 80% pickup and 20% image.

It's the first time I have ever plugged ANY guitar DI into the mixer and loved the sound without tweaking, quite something.

PrefessorBB, oh yeah it's deep man.

Nice catch dweezil, congrats !! ;)
Never seen one in person but, if may i express myself freely, my preference goes to the 07C.

Kim @ Mothership said 'cracks' are nothing to worry about.

Me, worried?

Of course I am! I have yet to get a 87C, 97C and 06C past SWMBO!

93C coming on Monday. The Elite Special's continued existence in my herd is looking very, very dicey indeed!

Don't get me wrong. The 07C is bloody good. BUT!

I simply cannot keep adding to my collection, it has to ebb and flow.

The 84C is a keeper.
The 01C is a keeper.
The 1537 is a keeper.

I would like to try 97C, 97C and 06C so something has to give (as well as the Elite Special which has served me well) so the 07C is sadly for the chop. I reckon in 10 / 20 years it will kill but at present it doesn't do it for me compared to the 84 and 01.

So it's up for grabs. I'll post a FS item soon.

Dweezil; they are both absolutely beautiful! Think carefully about selling: these Collectors are not easy to find here on the right side of the pond! :)

As promised, recoreded the 2001 Collectors, go listen to Odeur Fido here:

http://ovationfanclub.ning.com/profile/dweezil

One take, no overdubs, no fog! Far from a perfect take - my fingers are raw from too much 2001 and 2007 action last night! And my hand started to cramp. I gotta rest the poor fellow.

Tuning is DADGAD and capo at 5th fret.

Written by little old me. Enjoy!

I made the mistake of nicking the full frontal shot of your 07C and pasting it on my screen.

Spalt and Bearclaw GAS is resonating my very bones now...

I have a lovely 95C with a slight hearing problem if your out to collect Collectors?

The Piezo/Mic blend pickup system is great for recording but problematic on stage.

I@m not really out to collect Collectors. I'm out to collect guitars that I like the sound of, the feel of and the look of.

Sadly it often means buying one and shipping it over to find out if I like it.

As I said before the '84C and '01C make the grade (as does the 1537). The various Elites I've had just cannot cut it against such stiff competition so have gone. The 07C is a great guitar but it doesn't quite do it for me. I have a '93C coming on Monday, I'll see how I get on with that. Would dearly like to try a 87C and 06C (and and possibly a 97C). Then I think I will have exorcised the Ovation range. Then it will be time to take a look at Adamas.

I don't want to collect for collecting sake. Each one of my guitars gets a lot of attention. The bloody 01C is currently shredding my already well establish calleous's. Playing is improving greatly, just wish I could get some of these tunes recorded without screwing up.

Thanks for the offer (I think that's what it was) but not in the market for one at the moment.

In fact the exchange rate has just changed for the worse so has killed any US deals dead :(

It's probably for the best.

I've played the 01C for about 12 hours since Friday and I'm growing really rather fond of it.

I think what is so good about a nice looking guitar is it says to you "pick me up and play me till your fingers are shredded", certainly does to me anyhow.

I think I perhaps had better devote a little time to the 07C to see if it grows on me, it looks nice but I cannot help but think that given the choice a 06C would suit me more. In terms of looks the 06C craps all over the 07C. So I'm seriosuly thinking about dumping the 07C and opt for the 06C.

There is one minor thing I don't like about the 01C and that is the natural finish on the back of the neck. Just wondering if constant waxing might make it less 'dry and woody'? I've given it a going over with carnuaba (?) wax and it's a dry and woody as before.
