Hi all,

It's been a while since I've posted. I'm selling my 1983 1537 Elite on Ebay. It's a no reserve auction starting at $700. If anyone is interested, I'm happy to answer questions here on the forum. Thanks for looking!

Beautiful guitar at a really good price. Was the top of the guitar refinished at the factory sometime in the past?

Thanks! Regarding the top, I very much doubt it. I'm the second owner. The original owner lived in Kentucky, and seemed unaware that he had a very desirable model - it was just an acoustic guitar to him. In fact, he had placed a large sticker on the area where the top got knocked (lower left in the pic). When I was negotiating with him, he initially was reluctant to remove it, but I convinced him that revealing the top underneath would be rather important to most buyers. :) Luckily, he was able to do so without incident.

That guitar, except for when the top was dinged, must have lived in a case under a bed. The top and epaulets have not darkened and aged as much as you would expect for an almost 30 year old guitar.....

I do know that it belonged to a deceased relative (uncle?) of the guy who sold it to me, and that most likely, it had been left unused for a long time. So you are probably right. Other than the ding, it's in perfect condition. I'm sure that's why they tried to hide the ding with that awesome sticker. ;-)

This auction ends today and there is still no opening bid. I'm amazed that nobody wants to snag a great 1537 for a very fair price (less than I paid)! Only $700 to get in on the fun. Hopefully an OFC member will jump in.

Ach...
OK, How does she play? Action? etc... I have played a very nice one of these at Bobs and loved it, obviously.
(Prolly a nice counterpoint to my 1538?)

SOLD. Not a great price (for me) but she went to an appreciative OFC member. All good!

Thanks for the replies.

I am the lucky guy!
And Roger did let me have a heck of a deal on it, for which I will always be grateful.

It is every bit (and more) the guitar I was told it would be. It has a very full sound, unlike several elites I have played, where I felt the bass side didn't have quite the response as the treble. Trust me...she sounds better than she looks (if that is possible), plugged and unplugged.

Thanks again Roger. She is in good hands.
