Bob's a runner, so maybe he has long legs and a short torso. I'm the opposite . . . short legs and a long torso.

my wife is 5'1 3/4" and she took one of the straps out of the package and used it with no adjustment.

I just find 39" seeming very short.

Just for grins, I found a strap I could adjust to exactly 39" and tried it on. I suppose it could work for some people, but I could just about touch my chin to the guitar.

If you're used to playing all hunched up over your guitar, 39" is probably doable. But for me, the guitar is really jammed up tight and doesn't work for the way I play ... my normal strap length is 52".

Why do you need a strap when sitting?

So just to make sure the padded strap wasn't stretching, I adjusted an embroidered strap to exactly 40". This felt just right:

Then I adjusted it to exactly 44", which from what I understand is the SHORTEST possible length on alpep's strap. It's too long for me. Check out the difference in my left arm in both pics (although I notice I'm on different frets). It's stretched out uncomfortably with the longer length:

I think I have to start eating more ice cream... :D :D

Bob...you are a great sport.

Leave it up to guys to hijack a thread based upon the notion (hypothesis)(theory)(law) "size matters".

And have a guitar strap as the subject.

Bob,

Have you considered converting a watch band into a guitar strap? ;)

The strap might not fit you, but YOU sure fit in here! Not only do you have a good sense of humor, you figured out how to post photos right away… we've got members that have been here for years and haven't figured that out! ;)

…and your signature line? Just too funny!

Welcome!

Hell Bob......just buy a strap to support one of the co-founders of this great forum.

If you can't make it work, surely you know someone who would appreciate it as a Christmas gift....

and if you don't know anyone, I will volunteer to accept it!

You say you're 5'8". You sure you didn't mean 58"?

OK big boys. I just measured the strap on the Ultra GS I've been using the last few weeks. 39" from hole to hole and I didn't mess with it. I only use it when sitting and like to keep it fairly tight so the guitar stays vertical. My other Ultra GS was a bit loose when I sat. It was 41". I'm 4" taller and 40 lbs. fatter than Bob.
