I tried to find one once, and ended up buying an old suitcase from a thrift store for 2 bucks, to cannibalize the handle from. In the end, for all the work inolved, I think it would have been better just to buy a replacement case from someone here or on Ebay.

(the others for sale are priced abov $150, but this one is still at $51 : Guitar Case

The glue used in the lining seems to outgas, even years and years later, and if you leave the guitar in the case for any length of time, your strings will corrode. Plus, the old cases tend to warp. Call Al, get yourself a new case, then YOU can put your old broken one on ebay too.

Here's one WITH a project guitar (Spare Parts???) that's at $51: Ovation Guitar and Case I was looking for a guitar case and I got a "Vintage Brown Ovation Case with Free Guitar"... The guitar had a broken headstock, so I just figured that I could get the tuners and the preamp. Of course, I glued the guitar together and it sounds great. (don't look so great, but...) So I still had to buy a Real new case for $99 for the original guitar... In the end it might be better to just grab a new handle somewhere. Or just get a whole new case.

I know you probably want to keep the original "vintage" case but it's true that it probaly will not correctly protect your instrument anymore. The cost of a newer replcement isn't much, and you could still hang on to the old one as keepsake. How badly do you want to protect your investment?
