I have an Acoustasonic SFX and I have the treble and bass set to 10 and the mid to 3 and then make room adjustments on the guitar preamp based on the individual guitar.

I have the string dynamics set to 6 1/2 and the feedback notch on 3. Then for FX effects I have it set to reverb+delay and FX level at 3.

This give me a nice punchy sound with a bit of reverb/echo that makes the guitar sound very large without the effects becoming overpowering.

Of course in a different setting, it might sound like crap but for where it is in my studio, I think it sounds great.

One thing I learned when I started playing with pro audio is "less is more" on any eq adjustments.

I tend to run very flat eq on nearly everything I own, but when confronted with only a 3 bank eq, I will ramp the mids up, and adjust the low and high to where they sound the best.

Mackie taught me the best trick for sweepable mid's I have ever seen.

Rather than use it to boost what sounds best, they advise using it to cut the bad noise. Their technique is set the mid gain to max, then sweep the frequency while your source is playing until it sounds it's ugliest...then back the boost down to a slight cut. Man it is like watching a curtain being pulled back from clear glass sometimes.

Truth is, however, as noted with guitars, sound quality is very subjective, and will vary by multiple factors, so just play with it until you get what you like....THEN WRITE IT DOWN!!!
