For you old timers that have used internet browsers for a while, maybe you remember Netscape.... who used to be king of the hill before Internet Explorer crushed them into dust.

Well, guess what. In my search for something other than IE, I had been using Firefox which is a great browser. Unfortunately, it has problems with WorkshopLive and a few other sites that I like to frequent.

Well, Netscape has just released version 8.1 based on the Firefox engine and IT KICKS ASS!

It works PERFECT on every website I have used it on and has all of the great features that I loved about Firefox.

Just had to pass this along for those of you (like Cruster) that is looking for a great alternative to IE.

Stephen  Just kidding... It just doesn't feel natural not to be yelling at you for something....

I've been running Mozila for years, but always had to keep IE installed for sites running CGI scripts etc...Thanks very much for the heads-up. I'll definately be checking it out. Now, If I could only figure this Linux thing out, I could tell MicroSquish to go straight to hell...

Speaking of Firefox, does anybody else have the problem of disappearing favorites? My wife uses Firefox and just about every other month, all of her links disappear.

Mtnbikerfred, try PCLinuxOS. I've been using it for several months, only occasionally booting Win2k for favorite photo editing software. I had previously spent a couple of months with Mepis as my primary system. Also, have Kanotix installed on another partition, and on my notebook. It is quite good. All of the distributions mentioned come in live CD form, where you can boot from the CD and try it with no effect on a Windows system. Then, if you like it, you choose Install from the menu or desktop icon. Some are better than others for helping newbies through installing alongside Windows, and I don't recall which, as I've stepped around that to do my own partitioning.
