hi all
I used to do fingerpicking like blues and that stuff on a classic guitar (nylon strings). now, after some years not played the guitar at all, I bought an elite 1768. of course it is hard to get into this piucking machanism again, but sometimes I think, this guitar is not really made for fingerpicking - I'm used to a wider neck!
Now I'm just wondering if there are any fingerpickers out there who play an ovation elite.

regards
benjamin

I primarily fingerpick on my 1868 Elite. It's gotten to the point where I feel uncomfortable playing with a pick. Weird, huh?

But, that's just me. I don't think the necks are too narrow, but I didn't start out playing on a wide neck classical. ;)

I fingerpick almost exclusively and the only one of mine that isn't a standard width is the Classic. It takes me a couple minutes to get used to the different widths when I switch, but nothing significant.

Hi Benjamin,

I started out finger picking on a classical as well. I currently play an 1868 elite most of the time, even for my fingerpicking, love the crisper sound. I am not a pick fan either. I had a little difficulting in adjusting to the neck width at first but after playing both for a while now going back and forth is not too bad. I have more difficulty going between my celebrity CC026 and my Elite because of the neck thickness (or shape difference) even though they are both the same width. The elites just seem to play a lot faster and easier than the celebrity, which has a deeper rounder neck profile.

Take Care,
Mike O
