does anyone know if the 1869 featured an xlr output back in 1987?
i think the 90's and later have 'em.

I believe the first XLR output was with the Optima preamp that didn't come out until early 90's. I could be wrong. Dave

As of '94 the 1869 did not have an XLR, but that was with the OP24 preamp. My '95 Adamas has the Optima preamp and the XLR port.
