Ok...

that was a verrrry cool bass solo. But he's got more talent in his pinky than I do in my entire conglomeration of cells.

I first noticed Victor with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. A great talent.

Amazing (Grace)! I like how he changes the tuning on the fly.

Try the Slap bass lesson. I've been listening to the Flecktones for years, they're an amazingly talented and creative band.

Well, whaddya know...Waskel does have at least one redeeming quality...

(aside from his predilection for LooneyToons)

"Turtle Rock"!! and "Blu Bop"

Have you been listening to any of his 'newer' stuff with Edgar Meyer and assorted others?

If you ever get the chance to see the Flecktones live go! They are a great, talented band. They made a big change a few years back when the harmonica player quit and they eventually replaced him with a sax. But they have always been amazing.

Before the Flecktones, Bela did some great stuff on Rounder Records with David Grissman, Jerry Douglas and Tony Rice among others.

Not super new, but 'Uncommon Ritual' is on right now. Gotta love 'Barnyard Disturbance'. There's a DVD chronicaling a Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer tour, culminating in a live performance of a piece you would call impossible if you weren't watching them perform it. Amazing musicians.
I've got a tape of a Soundstage program where Bela and the Flecktones performed a piece called 'Almost 12' - in 11/12 time, shifting to 7/8 at the bridge. Victor played off hits, trying to mess up Bela playing the melodic piece. Fun to watch great musicians having fun playing music most of us can't imagine.

Who says it's 11/12 time? Sounds to me like Don Cherry's "Live in 3 2/3 / 4 Time". I've counted some weird time signatures in my time (and written a few) but 11/12 is a new one on me.

Um. Victor Wooten said it, just before they played it... I figured he wouldn't have to brag. If I get time (no pun intended) I'll get it off the VHS and email it to you.
