| Can anyone recommend a good place to find a bone nut and saddle to replace the plastic ones that are on this custom legend 1119-4, built in 1975?

Location: Carle Place, NY | Both the nut and saddle have to be custom made. The nut is very difficult to do yourself and is best left for a good luthier. Probably would cost about $50.
The saddle is also tricky because Ovation saddles are thicker than those on most other guitars. You have to get an extra thick blank ($5) and carefully sand it down for both size and thickness. I've done it but it's a lot of work to get it right.
I don't think that either is worth the money or effort because the improvement in sound is really not noticeable. Your 1119 CL should sound great as is. |

| bone is different to tusq to plastic to brass. None of them are better, just different. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Why not try the factory?
Depending on the year many Custom Legends came with bone nuts. This being acoustic it is much easier for a bone saddle than having one made for the pickup. |

John, you can email the factory for an approximate cost. I'm still not sure that you'll notice a difference in sound though. |
