So I'm looking at dual 1/4" plugs on this thing, there is no manual or y-plug. I've found that if I plug in to the inner most plug with a standard cord, I'm getting even sound from all 6 strings. If I plug into the outer plug, the low E, D, B strings are very pronounced. So is this system designed this way or am I missing something here?
Where can I pick up the y-cord, is this something the mothership sells still?
Does anyone still have the original manual for the '83 Elite 1537. Mind scanning me a copy & sending my way?
Oh, before I forget, all of you know-it-all's were very right, these old gals are just the cat's meow ;) |

There's a mono plug and a stereo plug on these. In stereo mode, alternating strings are sent to the left and right channels ... allowing you to go to two channels on a board or two separate amps. You need to get an insert cable that has a stereo end going to two mono outs. I've seen them at Sweetwater.com. I don't think the mothership sells these.
P.S. I spent a couple of hours this past weekend doing the care and feeding thing on my 1537 and I am amazed all over again at just how sweet these are. |

Location: Scotland | Those Y-cables are easy to find, the most common use for them is patching effects into a mixer insert point, either directly from the effects unit or via a patchbay. Any stockist of pro-audio gear should have them, ask for an Insert Cord. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | It's the sterio plug, Get a sterio plug and two amps and have a big time. Then change the nut and washer so that the mono is chrome and sterio is gold, or whatever you choose so you'll know in the future. |

Location: SoCal | I've always said that my 1537 is the one guitar that I will never part with. Then, in the last 6 months, thru my friends here, I aquire an 87 Collectors, then my wife, for my birthday, gives me a FD-14. Two truly amazing guitars, and I don't pick up up my 1537 for quite awhile.
And when I do pick it up, it feels like the best pair of shoes I own, and I'm reminded just how much I love it. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I tried to tune mine with the electronic tuner when I first unpacked the 1537. I couldn't get 3 of the strings to tune and thought the preamp or pickup was screwed up. Then I saw the really small letters next to the mono and stereo plugs. The mono plug should sound fine if you just plug in to one amp with a standard cord.
I quit plugging in anyway. It sounds so good without.
And dammit, would you and Paul quit reminding us how your wives give you guitars! |

Location: Tidal Mudflats of Virginia | ah, so one's a stereo jack...hadn't thought of that. Actually, I was thinking 3 strings on one and the other three on the other plug but I was doing something wrong. Good stuff, thanks!
So does anyone have the original manual, that maybe they could hook me up a copy of?
