A recent post gave a good solution for people whose Ovations tend to slip- it suggested the use of non-skid adhesive designed for floors and steps. I tried this, and it works well for me.

But I just discovered a different, simpler approach. At the local Dollar store, they sell rolls of a product called "Grip-it Multi Purpose Liner."

This is a rubberized net material, designed to go on the bottom of tool drawers and glassware shelfs. If it is cut into a foot square pad, it sits like a napkin on my lap, and holds the guitar as well or better than most techniques.

I favor this approach, because I have learned the hard way, just because adhesive doesnt stain or pit a surface immediately, it might still cause damage if left on for years.

The new Slip-Grip pads work great too.

I just received mine a few days ago and it's definitely doing it's job. What's cool about the slip-grip is that it's custom fit to your Ovation guitar according to bowl size, right or left handed giutars and bowl color. They're made for the O's. I can sit on the sofa with my legs stretched straight out onto the coffee table and not have to prop one leg up to hold the guitar when I play. It just STAYS PUT and lets you work the fretboard like mad.

There's a link in the SELL/TRADE to buy these at a discount.
