I am thinking of adding a magnetic sound-hole type pickup to my Legend, (Seymour Duncan, LR Baggs, etc.). The reason I want to do this is to be able to better use electric-guitar effects that dont respond well to piezo pickups.

So my question is; is it possible to connect or "blend" in a signal from a magnetic pickup into the existing OP-Pro pre-amp? Anyone doing this already? Maybe it's better to blend externally with some type of DI device?

Thanks

Brian, I thought you had a T5?

IMHO it's probably better to do it externally - provide a preamp for the new pup. It would be nice if it had a thumbwheel for volume at the pup. That would give you more control of the overall sound, as opposed to using the OP as the preamp for both pickups.
Plus you wouldn't have to make holes in your Legend!

Waskel, I do have a T5, and it works great for this sort of thing. But I would fear for it's safety if I brought it along to the OFC factory tour in May.

It just would be nice to be able to use some electric guitar effects with the Legend. But if it's too big of a headache I won't bother. I thought I saw a post before where someone added a magnetic pickup through the OP-Pro.

:D Can't blame you there. While many of us would like to see and play it, the Factory staff might be tempted to dissect it.

I didn't say you couldn't run a second pickup into the OP, just that for the most flexible solution, I thought it best to keep them separated.
I think Woody has done some stuff with blender pots, and probably others here have. You would have to drill a hole somewhere, though.

Don't worry about it, I'm bring a Martin. Gonna put these wooden box bigots in their place once and for all. Dave
