The german distributor told me, that it was an experiment with guitars with an Engelmann Spruce Top between 1995-98, that should be selled on the german market, but they stopped the project. Some of them stayed in the US, only a handful were sold in Germany. I don't know, how many exactly were made. Specs: Deep Bowl, Spruce Headstock and the Longneck-Fretboard Inlays. It's not possible to upload a picture (I tried), but you can see some of my guitars and the 1768-EMSX on Jerome's page, ovationtribute.com. Best regards, Kurt

The german Ovation distributor, Musik-Meyer in Marburg, told me about 4 Book Elite guitars they have sold in Germany, my Elite has the number "512661" . I bought it at ebay in January 2006, from the second owner in absolutely mint condition for a very low price, 1110 Euros (= 1362 USD) including the signed book. It's very interesting to find such a lot of german Ovation fans on this site, I hope to meet them next year on the Frankfurt music fair. We should talk about it next year. There was a question "..where did you get this picture from?" I found most of my pictures when Ovation guitars were sold at ebay. Just have a look, you find pretty pictures there !! Does anyone know why some Book Elites have a trussrod cover and others don't? Best regards, helmut-pl (Helmut Plaue)

That would be great if you could locate the other German owners. My Book Mandolin came from Germany and it has the German distributer sticker still on the back of the headstock. How many Book Elites have you seen with Truss Rod Covers ??? Dave

I would like to know this. The ebay number of my Book Elite was 7379942838, look at it. Like Koenig Kurt I am also a junior member and I live also in Germany. I hope you all understand what we have to say on this site, I am also lucky that I have found the OFC. My English is only that what I've learned in school in the sixties. Best regards, helmut-pl

One thing I already learned from reading here, is: Ovationgallery.com is Dave's (Standingovation) page, and he adjusted the trossrud cover because he likes the look of it. Right, Dave? Beste Grüße nach Deutschland und die USA, Koenig Kurt

In Germany is no site where you can communicate about Ovations or other acoustic guitars, someone (who has learned his english well !!) should make a german Ovation-site - there are enough Ovation players and fans in our country. Best regards, helmut-pl

It was almost universal that when I asked if they spoke English in my very bad German, they would say, "a little." I always told them that their English was much better than my German. It is somewhat embarassing that we Americans are so poor at foreign languages.
