my new guitar This isn't the actual guitar. Mine is identical but a 2003. It is added to the bottom of my profile. I bought it off ebay. It arrived today. It was described as having a perfect finish. However it has buckle rash and pick scratches. I emailed the seller and he agreed to reimburse me $100 of the $875 I payed for it. I can live with that. It is a dream player. It has a great feel and sound. It is another favorite.

When you click on the image, you will get the dersert burst color. Hit 'previous' and you will see the trans red. That is the color of mine.

Beautiful. I like the lighter colored fretboard on LPs

Nice addition. The weight still gets me at about 9 pounds. How's it compare in sound with the mini hums on your gold top? I have two Gibson Les Pauls, a standard with Burstbuck Pros and an early 80's prototype Special with active electronics. The Burstbucker Pros are the most amazing pickups I've ever heard. They make the SRV Texas Specials (very nice pickups in their own right, and probably my favorites) on a Strat sound a little weak at similar settings. Of course, humbuckers vs. single coils, so many other variables . . .

ProfessorBB, my classic is a 1960 reissue. It doesn't have mini's. It is powered by a 496R ceramic humbucker in the front and a 500T at the bridge. They are a little better than the p90's on this one.

Beautiful! And that's a pretty good price! Nice grab.

I just got a new es-335 and I'm in love... can't put it down. O's make a great acoustic or A/E but you really can't beat a Gibson electric!

Congrats!
Cheers,
JT

I dunno, play that 335 back to back with a Thunderhead and you may have trouble making a choice! Being a little smaller than some guitar gods, I appreciate the T-head being just a little thinner and smaller than the 335....makes me feel bigger!

You can't really compare them fillhixx. Even my ES335 epiphone beats the thunderhead.

Define "beats". It all depends on the sound you're going for. The epipy has different p/u's than the THead. They are not going to sound the same.

This is one of those discussions where there's no right or wrong answer. It's just what feels right to each player.

I've never played the thunderhead. I have been happy with the O electrics I've played but none of them have compared to any Gibsons I've played (no offense to the O electric lovers out there).

I played just about every semi-hollow and hollow body out there before buying the 335 (including the Heritage's thanks to some people on this site's suggestions - which were very very nice) but I kept going back to it. Whenever I pick it up I'm lost for an hour at least (which is not helping me at all with studying for the Bar exam this summer  :p ).

In any case, the les paul studio sounds awesome! I've played a friend of mine's (one without the fancy top) and it's a hellova guitar.

Cheers,
JT

Nice! There's just nothing quite like a Les Paul. Great rock and roll guitars!

I have a Thunderhead, a Gibson ES-335 CRS, and a Gretsch Country Gentleman. The Gibson and Gretsch are from the 70's and the T-head is a 1968. Playing one right after the other on exactly the same amp settings and as close as I can get to the same guitar settings, there is a noticeable difference in sound and feel. One thing very noticeable is size. The T-head is dwarfed by the Gretsch and the ES falls in the middle. I prefer the vintage sound of the Gretsch (just barely over the Gibson), but I use the whammy a lot and the strings go out of tune quickly. I prefer the neck and feel of the ES, and of the three, spnd more time playing it than the others. I also prefer the looks of the T-head. If I spent some time and money setting up the T-head (it probably hasn't been touched in years), I'm sure its sound and playability would rival the others. The Gibson pups are the most lively and responsive, and this particular model has a secondary stereo output like the Preacher.

My theory: if don't like the sound of what you've got, get more.

I've played the T-head a lot more than the Les Paul. Maybe it is because it has Witko's mojo working :p

  V74, WOW! That is a beautiful guitar!!!

As soon as my digital comes back to town (Girlfriend took it away for the weekend) I'll post some shots of the new 335.

Looks like this post is turning into a "mine's bigger contest"! ;) All's fair (and fun) in love and guitars!

Cheers,
JT

That has to be the most beautiful grain I have seen on a guitar. Love it too.

Vcnyls, good luck in getting it back. If it is that beautiful, don't lend it out unless she is more beautiful.

OLJ - IMHO she is that beautiful. But just to clarify, she took the camera for the weekend, not the 335! No matter how beautiful she is, I'M NOT THAT CRAZY!!! :D :)

JT
