As I wait for my re-issue Glen Campbell 12-string to arrive (today!), I was wondering if the U681T-5's are still around to be purchased new. About how many of these were made? Everything I read about them is very positive, including the unplugged tone. Also, are they set-up for mediums or lights?

I made an inquiry at the local Guitar Center a couple of weeks ago. They showed at least 2 available. I think they said Tampa, FL and Atlanta, GA. They offered to have it shipped in for me to evaluate. The price they quoted was $1899. I don't know if that included the case, I didn't go there. You can probably get them down below that with the case, some strings, maybe a stand and whatever else suits your fancy, depending on how frisky you're feeling.

Another avenue would to give Al a shout next week. He's up at the Factory Jam this weekend.(See Lost Art/Vintage Instruments under the 'Sponsored By' tag in the green bar to your left) That is where I got mine, brand new, which arrived at my door 2 days ago.

He may be able to find another one, and he is much more reasonable than the GC.

One other place to find one would be with our own Alaskan Fly Guy. He has on 'used' one that is said to be pristine that he is thinking about selling.

Thanks for the shout there BluesSailor. I'll bet that you are lovin' that new UT. I do still have one that I would sell. As you can see I'm so sure about selling it that I HAVE NOT posted it for sale anywhere except for the mention here and there as UT's are discussed. If I get the right offer it's gone but... I change my mine every other day it seems. I see the one on eBay has been pulled because of a defect that was found by our own Mr. Ho.

There's another one for my "Not at the tour" count.

Oh I forgot to answer the question of "How many U681T's were made?" From what we were told when we pre ordered them, there were only going to be 100 of these made. From some of the seial numbers I have seen I'm not sure that this was the case. Seems like there may have been a few more than that made.

Ron,

I missed the deal with the UTE on eBay. What kind of issues were found by Henry?

I just pulled a few shims from my UTE last night and tweak the neck a bit.....MAN!!!!!

It was nice before but now the action is so low it is like playing without strings....AND THIS IS WITH 13-54's!

Great guitar, great sound, great playability.
Jim D.....grab one if you can.

I think Al still had one (unless it was the one Blue grabbed).

Don't delay if you want one....these are finding permanent homes and really small numbers will ever be available.

These reissues will be like the FD14...highly desirable but very difficult to get a hold of!

Stephent28-A FEW shims? How many are there in that thing? Mine has played so well since I got it that I have never even looked under the saddle. Most of my "O's" have had only 1 or 2 shims.

The UTE that was pulled on eBay was the same one that Robbie (worshipleader) bought awhile back. It was a B stock with a bad neck from Music123.

The newer one has a serial number of 488678. I can't find the list of numbers that StandingO has but that # seems to be off from what I remember of the rest of them. Can someone tell me where the serial number list is these days?

Sounds like they took a break in production to run some other models and then resumed with the current serial numbers

Thanks for the information folks. My new Glen Campbell 12 string is sitting at home in a box waiting for me as I post this message. I still have about 2 more hours at work.

I will play that one over the weekend and see how I get on with the deep bowl. If that goes well, and if I can make a case to my wife, I just might consider one of these. I know they are not going to be around too much longer...........

The one that Henry is bidding on is my listing...and it is a NEW guitar in EVERY way EXCEPT for the fact that the warrenty has been registered. Even that is not an issue because of WHO registered it...and ANY and ALL warranty issues will be handled VERY easily...and the reserve is set lower than you can buy it for anywhere else!

warranties are not tranferable no way no how. and since you are a dealer telling people you can get around this, i think you are in violation of your dealer agreement. you may want to check with your sales rep.
