Hey all, first post here, and ive got a question about my CC057

So Ive had the guitar since Christmas, and there has always been this slight buzz at what seems like every fret. I thought that maybe it was because I was used to the Electric guitar...but since ive had the guitar now for a few months...it seems that isnt the problem.

It seems that whenever I try a barre chord, the strings buzz...and even with power chords. Sometimes this happens on single notes. I thought that maybe I just wasnt pressing down hard enough...but ive come to realize that you dont need to apply a ton of pressure on the strings to get the note to sound clearly...so my question is, what could be causing this problem?

Maybe because you use extra-light strings (.010"-.047")?????? Ovations, even imports like the CC057, are usually set up for lights (.012"-.053"). The lighter strings could cause the buzzing.

Actually, when I brought the guitar home, it had the stock strings, but i ended up switching them for elixer lights...which is what is on it right now

The edit icon is the one with the pencil and paper above your post. Too light strings will cause the buzz as will setting the action too low. If it didn't buzz with the stock strings, then it's probably the strings. If you bought it new, the manual should say how to check the string height.
I just put light guage strings on my electric and it buzzes on the low E.

Some of the guys here probably know the recommended string heights from memory. Otherwise, I'll go look it up in one of my manuals or you could look it up on the Ovation website. Check the links at the left. Does it buzz everywhere on the neck? If it's just at the high end, it may need a truss rod adjustment.

well...it seems that my Ovation doesnt like to be tuned to standard, if i tune it down one whole step pretty much all the buzzing is gone...the buzzing is probaly because of me, not the guitar

Sounds like you just aren't getting the strings down. Keep working on those callouses. If you have a capo, put it on and strum the open strings. If you don't get any buzz, it's probably your technique, not your guitar.

I bought a guitar once that had VERY heavy strings on it, and when I changed them out for lighter gauge, I had to adjust the neck to eliminate a small buzz. Could be the strings, or the fingers.

found out it was the strings. I had a set of Elixer's on them, nanoweb coating...i switched them to a set of Dean Markley Alchemy's...and i must say they sound great, and barely any buzzing
