I think I read on one of the forums that you can use Maguirs car polish on the tops of these guitars.

Anyone know about this?

I use Meguiar's Step 1 & 2 and Zymol on all my O's. It works really well. I can't see any reason why it won't be good to use on a flamed T.

There's nothing wrong with using car polish/wax on the top of an Ovation. Once you wax the top, it's really easy to keep it clean with just a soft cotton rag.

The polish is a canubra wax and brought the top up a treat.

I also did the back of the neck to make is slicker; seems to work

Careful when using Carnuba as over time it can cause yellowing {were talking years}.There is a product by 3m called Mirror Glaze that works fantastic and achieves a wet look while being safe for even Nitro finishes. A few custom guys turned me on to the product and it really is pretty amazing! :)

This topic has been discussed previously. If you use the Meguiars products, start with Step 1 and do it a few times, rubbing it in really well. Then finish with Step 2.

Step 3 is the wax, I use Zymol instead, but only on the top, not the neck. I do not think that Zymol is a carnuba based product. The trick to getting the best shine without any wax build-up is to use the minimum amount of wax and rub it in well until you can see the shine coming through. Then buff it and admire the gloss.

I'm a fan of Powerchord spray polish. Does the trick for easy quick polishes.

Whoops, the 3M polish is called Imperial Hand Glaze. It contains NO wax or silicone.I forget what board I was on that someone actually did a comparison with all the different products. If I find the link I will post it. You cant go wrong with this stuff, unless you dont like the wet look. ;) Try this first and if you dont like it then go to a wax based product.I Used to use Zaino polish that was quite expensive but for the guitars this 3m really does a great job. I think its about $10 for a 16 oz. bottle.
