Location: SoCal | I was able to listen to Serge Lara (Countryartist) and Joe Reyes' new CD - their 7th CD together. Very nice.

Tracks 7 and 8 are Serge with my Adamas II and Joe's Martin (along with a mandolin and uke).

OH WAIT - there he is listed on the Godin site as a "Famous International Player" who uses Godin guitars. Good job, Serge.
AND WHAT'S THIS - Martin lists him in their very impressive list of "Famous Players" using Martins. Well deserved.
Come on OVATION, get your heads out of the sand and sign some real players. Melissa, Al and Kaki are great in their own unique ways. But who else? An ex-Yankee centerfielder and a 70 year old cowboy ??? Please ...
Rick, I have all the respect in the world for you. But at the tour you made a comment that "even though famous players use other gear on stage, they often use Ovation on the tour bus because it's bullet proof." And WHY IN THE HELL WOULD OVATION BE SATISFIED WITH THIS ???
Before I leap off the soap box, let me just say that Serge Lara is one of the most exciting players around and he's tapping into the whole modern Latin cossover music scene which is starting to EXPLODE world-wide. He's one of the nicest people around (hell, I just shipped him one of my guitars with no questions asked, no payment changing hands, ... that's what you do with good people). He would be an OUTSTANDING embassador for Ovation products. Ah hell, why am I wasting my effort. THUMP - that was me jumping off the soapbox ...

Location: Anchorage, Alaska | Has anyone noticed the updated Al DeMiola website? Only a few photo's with his Ovations but lots more on this new site with other guitars. I was pretty disapointed when I went to see him last year that he never took out an Ovation the whole night. I guess that what I am getting at, is that even the Big Named Ovation endorser's are seen more often with guitars other than Ovations. |

Do the "deciders" at Kaman do any studies on this? I really have no idea ... as it stands now, it doesn't make sense to me. And as an average endorsee, what do you get? |

Again, Serge is a class act...a talented artist and a good friend. In addition, he has a wonderful family.
Of note, the CD is composed of their originals.
I agree with Dave and others.
For those who recently joined the OFC, Ovation's Artist Relations has ignored an accomplished artist in one of the fastest growing markets. He is an artist who loves the Ovation and Adamas guitars and has used them for years. Prior to getting back as Lara & Reyes, I helped Jim, his playing partner, by selling him a DiMeola II. Heck, he used my Adamas II unplugged for two of the tracks. Other guitar companies recognize and appreciate him.
At this time, you may not be able to play clips of the new CD but Google and check out their other CD's like Riverwalk. What do you think? Would you be proud to say he plays an Ovation or Adamas? Artists have fragile egos. Shut the door on them enough and they'll migrate to those encouraging and supporting them. Sounds reasonable.
Personally, I am proud of him as a friend and member of the OFC. |

Location: Las Cruces, NM | Serge is the real thing, and every body should remember that his moniker is "Country Artist" an endorsement of an Ovation guitar.
Serge, and his collaborators, make some of the best music today. It should not be categorized, it is just plain good music!!!
