Well the 1581-8 made the trip to Japan. Things didn't go as planned though. The commuter flight to Chicago was fine, and I made it to the boarding gate where the stewardess said their was no room in the storage lockers. I tactfully and pleasantly insisted that this was a very valuable guitar and it needed to accompany me. She asked someone in the cabin, then came back and said again that all the lockers were full, even in first class. She then accompanied me back to the last checkin point, and turned me over to that person. She called and asked if it could be stowed as a stroller, so it could be hand carried and loaded apart from the luggage. She was told no, and regrettably informed me the only other options wer to check it in as baggage or purchase a seat ticket for it.(Hmmmm?)(she also made a comment that there were only 3 people in the first class section of this 777) I had no choice but to have it checked in, since the plane had been boarded.

After taking my seat and nervously reflecting on the experience, the lady from the desk quickly came down the isle and handed me another luggage ticket and told me she went ahead and checked it the same as a stroller anyway, and reminded me I needed to make sure I picked it up at the front plane door as I debarked in Narita Tokyo. (sounded good to that point)

When I arrived and started leaving the plane my guitar was not where they said it would be, and I was being herded into a bus bound for the customs section. I found by bags, but no guitar. After about 15 minutes of following this nice little Japanese girl around, looking for a guitar, I finally found it on the floor next to the baggage conveyor. It was intact, but what a nightmare. So here I sit in Japan playing my Adamas, now a happy camper.

I'm starting to wonder about the return flight in 9 days. Wish me luck!
