Location: Port Angeles, WA | Hey guys, I have a Celebrity Deluxe CS257 that has the headstock broken just above the nut. It was previously broken and repaired in the same spot before I bought it (long story). The glue joint broke again after it fell over when I screwed up and didn't put it back in the guitar stand (duh  ). I hate to just throw this out, but I haven't been able to find any info on repairing or replacing the neck. My local shop says it's probably not repairable. Ovation says there aren't any Korean necks for replacement. And it just may not be worth the money anyway. Any feedback or suggestions on this would be appreciated. |

but you might be able to cut the break and make a scarf-joint and reglue and clamp well
or clean the existing break reglue, clamp and reinforce with a "key" joint... |

As Jeff already mentioned, it'll probably cost more money to replace the neck (IF there are any replacement available) than purchase a brand new Celebrity. Perhaps, that might be a 'sign' knocking at your door for an upgrade? Perhaps, a U.S.-made Ovation this time around?
I had a similar experience last year, except mine happened to be an Applause instead of a Celebrity. The neck broke after a child accidentally tripped and slammed against it. To make a long story short, I end up parting with it, but it made room (and a good excuse) for another guitar. I end up with a Non-O with beautiful herringbone trim, but that's another story :) ...
Good luck. |

Um, forget about the above message. I forgot that what happens at the tour, stays at the tour.
What preamp did it have? If you do end up getting a new Ovation, let me know. I am interested in finding an "Op" series preamp for a project I have. |

The CS257 had OP24 in it. I'm thinking it might make a good wall ornament after I glue the headstock back on. It was such a pretty guitar. |
