Joined: June 2006 Posts: 106 Location: UK | How long would a guitar usually 'hang around' in a shop window? My local dealer is trying to sell me a Celebrity CP247 which has the square pre-amp controls looks like the OP24 ? The guitar looks good and sounds good but would this be an old model? If so, how old? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

And then you should be able to negotiate a substantial discount. Just point out to the seller what a new (current) celebrity sells for on musicians friend, and I'd be looking at a price 30 or 40 percent below that amount.

But point out to the seller that tax should be included because musicians friend doesn't charge any. Good luck.

Joined: June 2006 Posts: 106 Location: UK | Thanks everyone. Here in the UK (as I've just discovered) the celebrity is currently supplied with OP20 and the celebrity-delux has the OP30. Apart from the label on the inside of the case are there any other pointers to differentiate a celebrity from a celebrity-delux? This is a real good looking guitar. cp247-VOQ which I've never seen before. What would that stand for Vintage Orange Quilt? It has got gold machining with perl knobs and diamond shaped inlay on the neck As I mention, any help identifying age/model etc of this guitar is greatly appreciated.

I ordered them a couple of hamer price increases ago so I would have some at a competitive price. No big deal the warranty stays and you can get a good bargain. I have also had some Ovations that came from other vendors that could not sell them or were discontinued that had older s/n's on them, it is not a big deal you get the full warranty and usually a great price. some people think this is deceptive since you purchased a guitar in 06 it should have an 06 s/n but you really have no control when the company actually made the guitar and how long it sat in the warehouse. usually these are short periods of time but sometimes they are longer. Ultimately I feel that if the guitar is the right guitar for you who cares?
